Evaluation of Gel Coating Performance in Extending the Shelf Life of Egg: The Role of Surface Area and Initial Weight.

This work investigated the impact of chicken egg size, including surface area and initial weight, on the effectiveness of cassava starch-based gel coating during storage at room temperature. The quality of a total of 540 fresh eggs in four different sizes (S, M, L and XL) was evaluated over a 4-week storage period at 25 ± 1 °C (60-65% RH). In this research, images from a scanning electron microscope revealed that the coatings maintained their integrity across all egg sizes, effectively covering pores and cracks throughout storage.

Cardiac pericytes mediate the remodeling response to myocardial infarction.

Despite the prevalence of pericytes in the microvasculature of the heart, their role during ischemia-induced remodeling remains unclear. We used multiple lineage-tracing mouse models and found that pericytes migrated to the injury site and expressed profibrotic genes, coinciding with increased vessel leakage after myocardial infarction (MI). Single-cell RNA-Seq of cardiac pericytes at various time points after MI revealed the temporally regulated induction of genes related to vascular permeability, extracellular matrix production, basement membrane degradation, and TGF-β signaling.

Severe COVID-19 pneumonia in pregnant woman treated with pulse corticosteroids therapy and third-trimester caesarean section: A case report.

A 44-year-old woman at 30 weeks of pregnancy was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with a diagnosis of severe COVID-19 pneumonia. Her condition worsened quickly, defined by prolonged hypoxia even with intensive therapy and oxygen supplementation. This led to the decision to perform a caesarean delivery and continue pulse corticosteroids therapy after delivery.

Discordant Atrioventricular Connections in Situs Inversus, Dextrocardia with Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Pulmonary Stenosis, and Anomalous Coronary Artery: A Rare Case Report.

We report a case of a 2-year-old female presenting with cyanosis since birth and having rare cardiac anatomy of visceral situs inversus, dextrocardia, discordant atrioventricular connections with double outlet right ventricle, atrial communication, subaortic interventricular communication, anteriorly leftward aorta with right aortic arch, single coronary artery with a branch crossing right ventricle outflow tract, pulmonary stenosis, and bilateral superior vena cava. Corrective repair with atrial switch (Senning technique), intracardiac baffle, and right ventricle outflow reconstruction was successfully performed with challenges from altered anatomical location and orientation of the heart and abnormal coronary artery.

Concomitant valve-sparing aortic root replacement with tetralogy of Fallot repair in a 30-year-old patient: A case report.

Introduction And Importance: Aortic regurgitation and aortic root dilatation are common features in adults with both repaired and unrepaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Valve-sparing aortic root replacement (VSARR) is an effective repair for aortic regurgitation due to progressive aortic root dilatation with TOF after repair. However, the effectiveness of this technique for unrepaired patients has rarely been reported.

Analysis of the second harmonic generation signal from a liquid/air and liquid/liquid interface.
