Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a vision-threatening complication of diabetic retinopathy and causes significant morbidity in patients. Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents are the mainstay of treatment for DME, with steroid implants being used for the treatment of anti-VEGF resistant eyes. Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis METHODS: We conducted a systematic review of relevant literature from January 2012 to August 2022 using databases including PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science. The quality of studies was evaluated using Quality Assessment for Diagnostic Accuracy Studies 2 (QUADAS-2) checklist.
In 2020, the global prevalence of glaucoma was estimated to be 76 million and it was projected to increase to 111.8 million by 2040. Accurate intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement is imperative in glaucoma management since it is the only modifiable risk factor.
