A redox cycle between Ce and Ce is an elementary step in water gas shift (WGS) mechanism. By facilitating the redox cycle between +4 and +3 of cerium, a formation of oxygen vacancy can be enhanced. It is considered to be a dominating factor in developing the WGS performance and the stability of ceria in this work.

It also investigated the performance of a proposed zero-water exchanged aquaculture system, which integrated growing of aquatic stocks and operation of acclimated biofilters in the same environment. Addition of shrimp diets fully established nitrification within 3 weeks as indicated by continuous increase of nitrate and trivial levels of ammonium and nitrite.
