Background: Early detection of prediabetes and diabetes better prevents long-term health complications. FPG and HbA1c levels are some common laboratory tests utilized as tools to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes, but the agreement rate between these two diagnostic tests varies, which could lead to underdiagnosis and thus undertreatment. This study aimed to analyze the agreement rate between FPG and HbA1c, as well as the physicians' accuracy of using these results to make a prediabetes or diabetes diagnosis through ICD-10 coding at a tertiary care hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.

Texture and color enhancement imaging (TXI) plus endocuff vision versus TXI alone for colorectal adenoma detection: a randomized controlled trial.

Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging (TXI) improves ADR by enhancing the brightness and contrast of endoscopic images. Endocuff Vision (ECV) is a mucosal exposure device that helps flatten the colonic folds.

A randomized controlled clinical trial comparing different numbers of acupuncture sessions for migraine.

Background: Acupuncture has shown benefit in preventing migraine attacks, but there has been no clear recommendation about the number of treatment sessions that should be provided.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine whether 5 sessions of acupuncture treatment is non-inferior to 10 sessions for migraine.

Methods: We performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled clinical trial across five hospitals in Thailand.

Nasal Dorsum Augmentation with Botulinum Toxin A: A Pilot Study.

Background: Botulinum toxin type A (BTxA) is used for cosmetic procedures, but its use for nasal dorsum augmentation has, to our knowledge, never been studied.

Objective: Here, we describe a method for using BTxA injection for nasal dorsum augmentation.

Methods: This was a pilot study.

Short Practical Regimen of Acupuncture for Melasma: A Prospective Cohort Study in a Tertiary Hospital in Thailand.

Acupuncture shows benefits for patients with melasma, although no optimal number of sessions have been determined. The prospective observational study was conducted in melasma patients who were treated with acupuncture procedures two times a week and were evaluated after the 5th and the 10th sessions of acupuncture, with a 1-week follow-up after the last session. Participants Groups A and B received five and 10 acupuncture sessions, respectively.

Effects of Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers on Ventricular Hypertrophy in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Purpose: Animal studies have suggested that angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) can attenuate or reverse the progression of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, while clinical studies yielded conflicting results. We sought to conduct a meta-analysis to investigate the effect of ARBs in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Methods: PubMed and EMBASE databases were searched through June 2020.

Application of survival analysis techniques to determine the optimal number of acupuncture therapy sessions for stroke patients.

Background: Acupuncture has shown clinical benefits in stroke patients but there is currently no clear recommendation on the number of acupuncture sessions that should be offered. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal number of acupuncture therapy sessions, following which significant clinical improvement could be anticipated.

Methods: We performed a retrospective observational study in stroke patients who had received acupuncture therapy as an adjunct treatment at Trang Hospital-a non-academic provincial hospital in Southern Thailand-between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2017.
