Comparative phosphoproteomics of (Mtb)- and BCG (BCG)-infected macrophages could be instrumental in understanding the characteristic post-translational modifications of host proteins and their subsequent involvement in determining Mtb pathogenesis. To identify proteins acquiring a distinct phosphorylation status, herein, we compared the phosphorylation profile of macrophages upon exposure to Mtb and BCG. We observed a significant dephosphorylation of proteins following Mtb infection relative to those with uninfected or BCG-infected cells.

Fluorescence studies were performed to determine the photophysical behavior of heme group in the presence of cationic Gemini surfactants of different architectures. On-site peroxide generation via electrochemical reduction is gaining tremendous attention due to its importance in many fields, including water treatment technologies. Oxidized graphitic carbon-based materials have been recently proposed as an alternative to metal-based catalysts in the electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), and in this work we unravel the role of C=O groups in graphene towards sustainable peroxide formation. We demonstrate a versatile single-step electrochemical exfoliation of graphite to graphene with a controllable degree of oxygen functionalities and thickness, leading to the formation of large quantities of functionalized graphene with tunable rate parameters, such as the rate constant and exchange current density.

Heteromolecular bilayers of π-conjugated organic molecules on metals, considered as model systems for more complex thin film heterostructures, are investigated with respect to their structural and electronic properties. By exploring the influence of the organic-metal interaction strength in bilayer systems, we determine the molecular arrangement in the physisorptive regime for copper-hexadecafluorophthalocyanine (FCuPc) on Au(111) with intermediate layers of 5,7,12,14-pentacenetetrone and perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide. Using the X-ray standing wave technique to distinguish the different molecular layers, we show that these two bilayers are ordered following their deposition sequence.

Herein, porous sodium alginate/graphite based hybrid hydrogel was fabricated as an effective adsorbent for organic pollutant. Sodium alginate was modified through graft polymerization of acrylic acid and subsequently loaded with graphite powder to enhance its adsorption capability. The synthesized sodium alginate cross-linked acrylic acid/graphite (NaA-cl-AAc/GP) hydrogel composite was utilized in the removal of malachite green (MG) dye from aqueous solution using batch adsorption experiments.
