Transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, this climate-sensitive viral disease presents a significant challenge for healthcare providers and policymakers. Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer among women worldwide, and metastasis remains the major cause of breast cancer-related mortality and is associated with poor patient outcomes. Acromesomelic dysplasia (AMD) is an umbrella term given to a heterogeneous group of progressive skeletal disorders characterized by short limbed dwarfism associated with disproportionate shortening of middle and distal segments of the upper as well as lower limbs. Although specific skeletal anomalies are difficult to diagnose antenatally, but because of their antenatal and postnatal implications and a possibility of reoccurrence in following pregnancies, such skeletal anomalies need to be actively addressed. A combination of radiologic, pathologic, genetic and molecular investigation prenatally as well as postnatally is required to classify a specific congenital skeletal dysplasia.

Context: Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) functionalized with lysine via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and conjugated to galactose or mannose are potential nanocarriers that can effectively bind to the lectin receptor in MDA-MB-231 or MCF-7 breast cancer cells. In this work, a method based on molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was used to predict the interaction of these functionalized MWCNTs with doxorubicin and obtain structural evidence that allows a better understanding of the drug loading and release process. The MD simulations showed that while doxorubicin only interacted with pristine MWCNTs through π-π stacking interactions, functionalized MWCNTs were also able to establish hydrogen bonds, suggesting that the functionalized groups improve doxorubicin loading.

As the most classic and extensively studied transcription factor in response to environmental toxic chemicals, the human aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) has been implicated in mediating some oncogenic responses also. Limited information is available, however, on whether arsenic, a widely presented environmental carcinogen, can regulate AHR to exert its carcinogenic activity. Through chromatin immunoprecipitation and sequencing (ChIP-seq), CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, RNA-seq, and immunohistochemistry (IHC), in this report we provided evidence showing that arsenic enforces TGFβ and other oncogenic signaling pathways in bronchial epithelial cells through disrupting the tumor suppressor-like activity of AHR.
