Introduction: The use of plants for treating diseases is as old as the human species. Medicinal plants have been a major source of therapeutic agents for alleviation and cure of diseases.
Objectives: The objective of the study was to evaluate and compare the antifungal activity of garlic, cinnamon, lemongrass and tulsi in powder and oil form at different concentrations on .
Introduction: Osteonecrosis (ON) of the femoral head is a common complication of sickle cell disease (SCD), frequently necessitating total hip arthroplasty (THA). Although THA is a common procedure with few complications when indicated for osteoarthritis (OA), patients with SCD have increased rates of complications. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of SCD on outcomes and complications following THA.

We present a same-day discharge protocol for transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) using MitraClip under general anaesthesia in a six-patient case series. This protocol aims to reduce the length of hospital stay, thereby minimizing potential for nosocomial COVID-19 infections and to promote safe discharge with cautious follow-up.

Methods: APPRENTICE registry prospectively enrolled 1543 AP patients from 22 centers across 4 continents (8 US, 6 Europe, 5 Latin America, 3 India) between 2015 and 2018, and collected detailed clinical information.
Background: As patient longevity increases following solid organ transplantation (SOT), more transplant patients are undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). The purpose of this study is to compare 90-day postoperative complications and 2-year surgical complications following primary THA in patients with and without a history of SOT.
Methods: Patients with a history of SOT with subsequent primary THA between 2010 and 2018 were identified in a national all-payer claims database (PearlDiver Technologies).
Background: The incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has been on the rise. However, the excess burden added by AF to the morbidity and mortality of CLL patients especially in the hospitalized setting is undetermined.
Methods: The National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database was accessed to gather data of hospitalized CLL patients with AF from 2009 to 2018.
We aim to study the impact of pulmonary hypertension on acutely exacerbated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). We used the 2016 and 2017 National Readmission Database with an inclusion criterion of AECOPD as a primary and pulmonary hypertension as a secondary diagnosis using ICD 10-CM codes. Exclusion criteria were age under 18 years, non-elective admission, and discharge in December.

It may be particularly common in patients with veno-venous ECMO due to their long hospitalization in the intensive care unit. Given that these patients have concurrent indwelling central venous catheters (CVC), it is unclear whether the ECMO circuit, CVC, or both, contribute to BSI.

The purpose of this study is to determine how prior lumbar fusion (LF) influenced dislocation rates and revision rates for patients undergoing THA or hemiarthroplasty (HA) for femoral neck fracture (FNF).
Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis was conducted utilizing the PearlDiver database from 2010 to 2018.

Background: As the use of social media continues to rise, the presence of social media accounts among orthopaedic surgery residency programs can foster connections with other specialties, highlight departmental achievements, and be a resource for applicants to learn more about the program. This study evaluated the current utility and landscape of social media, with an emphasis on the use of Instagram, in orthopaedic surgery residency programs in the United States.
Methods: A cross-sectional study of orthopaedic surgery residency Instagram accounts was performed.

An important gap of knowledge exists regarding the public interest in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) diseases during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. We aimed to understand the public interest in HPB diseases in the COVID-19 era. In this infodemiology study, we performed a comparative analysis of Google search volume of HPB terms in 2020-2021 and compared it to a similar time frame (2016-2019) in 3 periods to assess how trends in patient seeking behavior of HPB terms changed during the course of the pandemic in the USA and worldwide.

A number of underlying causes, including reactive, clonal, or idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome, may trigger eosinophilia. Disease presentation may vary from mild subclinical variants to fulminant myocarditis with thromboembolic complications, and in some cases, endomyocardial and valvular fibrosis may be seen.

Patients And Methods: We used nationally representative survey data.
Aims: This study used an artificial neural network (ANN) model to determine the most important pre- and perioperative variables to predict same-day discharge in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: Data for this study were collected from the National Surgery Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) database from the year 2018. Patients who received a primary, elective, unilateral TKA with a diagnosis of primary osteoarthritis were included.
Background: Conversion total knee arthroplasty (TKA) may represent a more complex procedure compared with primary TKA. The purpose of this study was to compare 30-day complications between conversion TKA and primary, non-conversion TKA as well as between conversion TKA and revision TKA on a national scale using a multi-center surgical registry.
Methods: Adult patients undergoing conversion TKA from 2006 to 2018 were identified in the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database and were compared with patients who underwent primary TKA and aseptic revision TKA.
Background: Outcomes of patients with implanted left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation experiencing a cardiac arrest (CA) are not well reported. We aimed at defining the in-hospital outcomes of patients with implanted LVAD experiencing a CA.
Methods: The national inpatient sample (NIS) was queried using ICD9/ICD10 codes for patients older than 18 years with implanted LVAD and CA between 2010-2018.
Aim: Various industrial and municipal wastes are the major sources of heavy metal contamination in water causing significant environmental issues. Bioremediation is an effective and affordable solution for the removal of metals and metal pollutants from industrial wastewater. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of live and dead Spirogyra sp.
