Rh and Kell phenotyping in voluntary blood donors: A study from a tertiary care blood center of western India.

Introduction: In human beings, there are 45 blood group systems and 360 antigens currently recognized by ISBT (July 2023). The Rh blood group system has 56 antigens, out of them 5 antigens D, C, c, E, and e are clinically significant antigens. The Kell blood group system has 25 highly immunogenic antigens.

Combining sentiment analysis classifiers to explore multilingual news articles covering London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics.

This study aims to present an approach for the challenges of working with Sentiment Analysis (SA) applied to news articles in a multilingual corpus. It looks at the use and combination of multiple algorithms to explore news articles published in English and Portuguese. It presents a methodology that starts by evaluating and combining four SA algorithms (SenticNet, SentiStrength, Vader and BERT, being BERT trained in two datasets) to improve the quality of outputs.

Data science has been an invaluable part of the COVID-19 pandemic response with multiple applications, ranging from tracking viral evolution to understanding the vaccine effectiveness. Asymptomatic breakthrough infections have been a major problem in assessing vaccine effectiveness in populations globally. Serological discrimination of vaccine response from infection has so far been limited to Spike protein vaccines since whole virion vaccines generate antibodies against all the viral proteins.

Insights from a Pan India Sero-Epidemiological survey (Phenome-India Cohort) for SARS-CoV2.

To understand the spread of SARS-CoV2, in August and September 2020, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (India) conducted a serosurvey across its constituent laboratories and centers across India. Of 10,427 volunteers, 1058 (10.14%) tested positive for SARS-CoV2 anti-nucleocapsid (anti-NC) antibodies, 95% of which had surrogate neutralization activity.

Prenatal ultrasound diagnosis of holoprosencephaly and associated anomalies.

Holoprosencephaly is a rare spectrum of cerebral and facial malformations resulting from incomplete division of the embryonic forebrain (prosencephalon) into distinct lateral cerebral hemisphere. Holoprosencephaly spectrum in the fetus is often associated with other anomalies, particularly of the face and extremities. Here we present three different cases of patients with holoprosencephaly who failed to attain routine sonography during 11-20 weeks owing to some unavoidable circumstances.

Splenic infarct with polysplenia syndrome and situs inversus.

A rare case of spontaneous splenic infarction with polysplenia and situs inversus is presented. The diagnosis was made by ultrasound and confirmed by CT which showed multiple aberrant right-sided spleens with situs inversus and one of the spleen showing low attenuation areas representing infarct. Polysplenia syndrome is a rare entity associated with heterotaxy syndromes, congenital cyanotic heart diseases, billiary atresia, intestinal malrotation, immotile cilia syndrome, annular or short pancreas, preduodenal portal vein and vena caval anomalies.

Inversion of the uterus is a rare clinical problem. It is encountered as an obstetric emergency and is a diagnostic challenge in gynaecology. Non-puerperal inversion usually results from a tumour implanted on fundus of the uterus.

Heterogenous wall thickening of gall blabber: xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis or carcinoma, with type 3 choledochal cyst.

Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis is an unusual inflammatory disease of the gallbladder characterised by severe proliferative fibrosis and the accumulation of lipid-laden macrophages in areas of destructive inflammation. Its macroscopic appearance may occasionally be confused with gallbladder carcinoma. The authors present a case of xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis with type 3 choledochal cyst in a 20-year-old man who was referred to our hospital with a 1-week history of abdominal pain and fever.

Efficacy of meditation in generalized anxiety disorder.

A study was conducted to compare the efficacy of meditation with that of imipramine and chlordiazepoxide in the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At the end of five weeks, meditation was found to be as effective as pharmacotherapy in controlling symptoms of anxiety. It was superior in altering trait anxiety (TMAS Scores).
