Background: Cirrhosis is a prevalent disease and ranks among the leading causes of death worldwide. Sarcopenia is believed to be associated with a poorer prognosis in patients with cirrhosis.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of sarcopenia on the prognosis of patients hospitalized for acute decompensation of cirrhosis, with or without acute-on-chronic liver failure.

Assessment of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Safety in Patients with Advanced Liver Fibrosis.

Purpose: The well-established relationship between obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a key etiological factor in the development of liver cirrhosis. Bariatric surgery is an effective treatment for weight loss in patients with moderate-to-severe obesity, also playing a role in controlling MASLD. However, surgical safety in patients with advanced fibrosis remains to be established.

Objective: - To evaluate the effect of consumption of a probiotic fermented milk beverage containing Bifidobacterium animalis on the symptoms of constipation.

Methods: - This randomized, double-blind controlled trial included 49 female patients aged 20 to 50 years and diagnosed with constipation according to the ROME III criteria (Diagnostic Criteria for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders) and the Bristol Stool Form Scale.
