Introduction: In chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the tumor cells receive survival support from stromal cells through direct cell contact, soluble factors and extracellular vesicles (EVs). The protein tyrosine kinase Lyn is aberrantly expressed in the malignant and stromal cells in CLL tissue. We studied the role of Lyn in the EV-based communication and tumor support.

Nanoparticles (NPs) are a promising strategy for delivering drugs to specific sites because of their tunable size and surface chemistry variety. Among the availablematerials, NPs prepared with biopolymers are of particular interest because of their biocompatibility and controlled release of encapsulated drugs. Poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) is one of the most widely used biopolymers in biomedical applications.

CD30-Positive Extracellular Vesicles Enable the Targeting of CD30-Negative DLBCL Cells by the CD30 Antibody-Drug Conjugate Brentuximab Vedotin.

CD30, a member of the TNF receptor superfamily, is selectively expressed on a subset of activated lymphocytes and on malignant cells of certain lymphomas, such as classical Hodgkin Lymphoma (cHL), where it activates critical bystander cells in the tumor microenvironment. Therefore, it is not surprising that the CD30 antibody-drug conjugate Brentuximab Vedotin (BV) represents a powerful, FDA-approved treatment option for CD30 hematological malignancies. However, BV also exerts a strong anti-cancer efficacy in many cases of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with poor CD30 expression, even when lacking detectable CD30 tumor cells.

Cross-cultural adaptation, validity, and reliability of the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire - Short Version (PSDQ) for use in Brazil.

Objective: The Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) is used worldwide to assess three styles (authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive) and seven dimensions of parenting. In this study, we adapted the short version of the PSDQ for use in Brazil and investigated its validity and reliability.

Methods: Participants were 451 mothers of children aged 3 to 18 years, though sample size varied with analyses.

The Five Digits Test in the assessment of older adults with low formal education: construct validity and reliability in a Brazilian clinical sample.

Introduction: In the assessment of older adults with very low formal education, typical tests of selective attention and inhibitory control are biased by reading abilities. In this sense, we aim to assess the psychometric characteristics of the Five Digits Test (FDT), a numerical Stroop paradigm, in older adults without cognitive disorders, with mild cognitive impairment, and with dementia.

Methods: We assessed 211 Brazilian older adults with low formal education using the FDT and other cognitive measures.

Combined peptide C consists of peptide C (CVNHPAFAC), a tumor-homing peptide, conjugated to the antiangiogenic peptide HTMYYHHYQHHL with a GYG.

Enhancing reactive species generation upon photo-activation of CdTe quantum dots for the chemiluminometric determination of unreacted reagent in UV/S2O8(2-) drug degradation process.

A new chemiluminescence (CL) flow method for persulfate determination was developed based on luminol oxidation by in-line generated radicals. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by CdTe quantum dots (QDs) under a low energetic radiation (visible light emitted by LEDs) promoted the decomposition of persulfate ion (S2O8(2-)) into sulfate radical (SO4(∙-)), leading to subsequent radical chain reactions that yield the emission of light. Due to the inherent radical short lifetimes and the transient behavior of CL phenomena an automated multi-pumping flow system (MPFS) was proposed to improve sample manipulation and reaction zone implementation ensuring reproducible analysis time and high sampling rate.
