Objective: Size at birth is a key indicator of in utero growth. Our objective was to generate sex-specific percentiles for birth weight and head circumference in neonates born between 22 and 29 weeks gestation from pregnancies without hypertension or diabetes and assess differences between vaginal and caesarean births and between singletons and twins.
Methods: We used data from 12 countries participating in the International Network for Evaluating Outcomes in Neonates database from 2007 to 2021.
Introduction: Type 1 congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) is characterized by large, dilated cysts that rapidly expand due to aeration immediately after birth, often necessitating surgical resection. In atypical cases of CPAM type 1, fetal T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reveals a low-intensity solid lung mass containing multiple irregular T2 high-intensity areas.
Methods: Data were retrospectively collected for infants with atypical CPAM type 1 born at our hospital between March 2002 and December 2022.
Objectives: To investigate the effectiveness of placing an indicator light indicating inadequate ventilation near the face mask during positive-pressure ventilation with respiratory function monitors (RFMs) in neonatal resuscitation. The study is a three-group, randomised, controlled, crossover simulation trial.
Methods: Paediatrics residents, neonatology fellows, and attending neonatologists at a single neonatal intensive care unit.
This is the eighth annual summary of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science With Treatment Recommendations; a more comprehensive review was done in 2020. This latest summary addresses the most recent published resuscitation evidence reviewed by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation task force science experts. Members from 6 International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation task forces have assessed, discussed, and debated the quality of the evidence, using Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation criteria, and their statements include consensus treatment recommendations.

This systematic review explores the effects of furosemide during COX inhibitor therapy.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Igaku Chuo Zasshi databases for randomized clinical trials that assessed furosemide during COX inhibitor therapy for PDA in preterm infants.

Background: Hospital-level and international variations exist in the management strategies of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). However, studies evaluating hospital-level variations in the respiratory outcomes of pre-term infants associated with differing management strategies of BPD are lacking.
Objective: Herein, we aimed to assess inter-hospital variations in the respiratory outcomes of BPD in very pre-term and extremely pre-term infants.
Background: Limited evidence exists regarding children receiving home healthcare devices (HHDs). This study aimed to describe the range and type of HHD use by children with chronic medical conditions in Japan and explore factors leading to increased use of these devices.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from the National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan.
Introduction: Despite advances in neonatal care, late-onset sepsis remains an important cause of preventable morbidity and mortality. Neonatal late-onset sepsis rates have decreased in some countries, while in others they have not. Our objective was to compare trends in late-onset sepsis rates in 9 population-based networks from 10 countries and to assess the associated mortality within 7 days of late-onset sepsis.

The effectiveness of administering sildenafil early on to prevent BPD remains uncertain. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of prophylactically administered sildenafil during the early life stages of preterm infants to prevent mortality and BPD.

Aim: For women, being underweight increases their susceptibility to osteoporosis, anemia, and other conditions and affects the weight of their infants and the well-being of future generations. This study examined the association between low pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and low birthweight using health insurance claims data and health checkup data, including weight measurements.
Methods: We used health insurance claims data and health checkup data (JMDC, Tokyo, Japan) of women and their newborns in Japan between 2006 and 2020.
Introduction: A feature of the management of extremely preterm infants in Japan is proactive circulatory management using early routine echocardiography performed by neonatologists.
Methods: This study was a post hoc analysis of the Patent ductus arteriosus and Left Atrial Size Evaluation in preterm infants (PLASE) study, which is a prospective cohort study including preterm infants admitted to 34 tertiary neonatal intensive care units in Japan between October 2015 and December 2016. We described the details of the treatment strategy of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) based on early routine echocardiography.
Background: Erythropoietin has an angiogenic effect on the retina and might increase the risk of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included infants born at 22 to 27 weeks' gestation between 2008 and 2018 who were admitted to neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). We compared mortality and morbidities between infants who received erythropoietin and those who did not.
Objectives: The management of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a critical concern in premature infants, and different hospitals may have varying treatment policies, fluid management strategies, and incubator humidity. The Asian Neonatal Network Collaboration (AsianNeo) collected data on prematurity care details from hospitals across Asian countries. The aim of this study was to provide a survey of the current practices in the management of PDA in premature infants in Asian countries.

Draft Consensus on Science With Treatment Recommendations are posted online throughout the year, and this annual summary provides more concise versions of the final Consensus on Science With Treatment Recommendations from all task forces for the year. Topics addressed by systematic reviews this year include resuscitation of cardiac arrest from drowning, extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults and children, calcium during cardiac arrest, double sequential defibrillation, neuroprognostication after cardiac arrest for adults and children, maintaining normal temperature after preterm birth, heart rate monitoring methods for diagnostics in neonates, detection of exhaled carbon dioxide in neonates, family presence during resuscitation of adults, and a stepwise approach to resuscitation skills training.
