Phosphodiesterases (PDEs) have drawn attention due to their critical roles in physiological and pathological conditions. Many research groups have studied these hydrolytic enzymes to develop new drugs, including apremilast as a PDE4 inhibitor and sildenafil as a PDE5 inhibitor.
