Several studies have suggested a favorable role for vitamin D in glycaemic metabolism and its potential as adjuvant treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This review discusses the role of vitamin D in the glycaemic control of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus and evaluates the effect of vitamin D supplementation on glycaemic markers in this population. Literature searches were performed in the BIREME, LILACS, and PubMed databases using the Medical Subject Headings and words related to vitamin D, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and glycaemic control.

The postmortem anatomopathological examination of eight heart-and-lung specimens obtained from eight HIV-seropositive patients was performed. Three patients were CDC stage II and five patients were CDC stage IV. The mean age was 27 (range: 23-32).

We report a case of acute regressive meningoradiculitis concomitant with HIV1 primoinfection. The clinical symptoms were mild and disappeared spontaneously. Electromyographic studies confirmed the regressive demyelinating-type process.

The purpose of this work was to study the hemodynamic effects of a pituitary extract (Post-Hypophyse, Choay, EPH) and of lysine vasopressin (Diapid, Sandoz, VP). Cardiac, pulmonary and liver hemodynamics were measured in 50 cirrhotic patients before and during intravenous infusion (0.45 IU/kg/h) of EPH (24 patients) or VP (26 patients).
