Background: The COVID-19 pandemic was managed in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ) by a COVID-19 elimination policy, involving border closure and an initial national lockdown. This was different to most other countries including Northern Ireland (NI) and the Netherlands (NED). We quantify the effect of these policies on the diagnosis of three major cancers, comparing NZ with these two European countries.

Aims: To review the demographic and clinical characteristics of confirmed COVID-19 cases within the Greater Wellington Region (GWR).

Methods: A retrospective, observational study of all 96 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the GWR. The primary outcome was time taken from onset to complete resolution of symptoms.

Background: bacteraemia is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. There is evidence that standardised care bundle implementation may improve the rates of appropriate investigations and improve overall management. A bacteraemia care bundle was introduced at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand in early 2014.
