Autoimmune diseases often co-occur due to shared immunological mechanisms, necessitating strategic treatment approaches to manage overlapping conditions without exacerbating each other. A 75-year-old male with a history of psoriasis vulgaris and bullous pemphigoid (BP) developed new-onset pustular psoriasis under systemic corticosteroid therapy, which is known to potentially worsen psoriasis into its pustular form. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis, showing features typical of pustular psoriasis.

In this study, 294 cardiovascular disease patients who performed a cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPX) with an adequate examination by echocardiography at Fukuoka University Hospital from 2011 to 2020 were investigated. Patients were divided into groups with grade I and grade II or III diastolic dysfunction according to diagnostic criteria, regardless of LVEF, by echocardiography.

Our report details a distinctive case of DFSP with pan-TRK positivity in the right nasal dorsum of a 46-year-old female. Histological analysis identified fusion gene involvement in this patient, detectable through pan-TRK immunostaining.

Although LCH is most commonly seen in children under the age of three, a small number of cases of congenital LCH have been described. With a review of the literature on congenital LCH with lung and skin lesions, we present a case of congenital LCH with involvement of skin and lung, which was effectively treated with chemotherapy without recurrence for 3 years during the observational period.

Excessive adhesion to the skin causes wound expansion and pain when hydrogels absorb exudates and swell at wound sites. Herein, we developed a low-adhesion and low-swelling hydrogel dressing using alginate, which is non-adhesive to cells and skin tissue, CaCO, and carbonated water.

Mixing an LM pectin solution with CaCO spontaneously forms a hydrogel. The gelation behavior can be controlled by adding an acidic compound to change the solubility of CaCO.

Radionuclide contamination in foods has been a public concern in Japan after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident. To estimate time and regional trends of daily intake and annual committed effective dose of strontium-90 (Sr) after the accident, we analysed Market basket samples using a low background 2π gas-flow counter. Samples were collected from six regions, once a year from 2013 to 2018.

Recently, we treated a 13-year-old female with FCAS/CAPS scheduled to undergo removal of an impacted tooth. To minimize perioperative heat loss, a forced-air warming system was utilized to prewarm the patient for 10 minutes before induction of general anesthesia.

However, there have been no reports on the associations of CR with the psychological condition and detailed physical activities evaluated on the same day.
Method: One hundred outpatients who participated in a CR program were graded on the hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS).
Background: Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a requisite component of care for patients with heart failure (HF). We aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes in outpatients with HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) compared to those in patients with non-HFpEF who did and did not continue a 5-month CR program.
Methods: 173 outpatients with HF who participated in a 5-month CR program were registered.
Fishes expressing a fluorescent protein in germ cells are useful to perform germ cell transfer experiments for conservation study. Nonetheless, no such fish has been generated in endangered endemic fishes. In this study, we tried to produce a fish expressing Venus fluorescent protein in germ cells using Honmoroko (Gnathopogon caerulescens), which is one of the threatened small cyprinid endemic to the ancient Lake Biwa in Japan.

To estimate time trends of daily intake and annual committed effective dose of radionuclides after the accident, radioactive cesium (r-Cs; Cs and Cs) and potassium-40 (K) in market basket (MB) samples prepared at 6-month intervals in periods from September 2013 to March 2019 in 15 regions of Japan were analyzed using γ-ray spectrometry. The annual committed effective dose of r-Cs, calculated at non-detected radionuclide levels assumed to be half the limit of detection (LOD), appeared to decrease gradually in 11 regions close to the FDNPP that were more likely to be affected by the accident.

A physician-staffed ground emergency medical service (GEMS) using a rapid response car (RRC) system was implemented at our hospital in April 2015. The medical team, including a physician and nurse, is dispatched to assess the patient and expedite the start of treatment by emergency physicians and cardiologists after arrival at the hospital.

To evaluate this, a thin, flexible, and high spatial resolution pressure sensor sheet is used. The system allows measurement of the COP trajectory in addition to the force amplitude and its temporal regulation.

To investigate the underlying mechanisms and biomarkers associated with IL-17A and the role in psoriasis pathogenesis, over 30 serum proteins were evaluated in a study assessing the effectiveness and safety of secukinumab, where treatment was directly switched from cyclosporin A to secukinumab. Serum β-defensin 2 (BD-2) levels rapidly and robustly reduced following secukinumab treatment.

Carcinogenesis is caused by genome instability, one of the major causes of which is double-strand DNA breaks (DSBs). Interestingly, infection by particular species of bacteria can induce DSBs in host cells. For example, several reports suggest an association between periodontal disease and oral cancer.

Abstract: We evaluated the performance of a gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for quantifying 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which the Scientific Committee on Food and the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations/World Health Organization Expert Committee on Food Additives have considered to be of concern to human health and used the method to determine the PAH concentrations in smoked foods. Eighty-seven samples of smoked fish, smoked meat, smoked eggs, dried bonito flakes, and dried bonito-related soup-stock products (disposable powder packets for infusion, instant bouillons, and liquids) were purchased in Japan to analyze their content of the 16 PAHs. Because of the low certainty of some results, the analytical values for some PAHs (e.

In a Japanese sub-population (20 patients in total, 5 per dose group), no significant differences in the change from baseline of the 6-minute walking distance at Week 52 (primary endpoint) were observed between the placebo group and each BYM338 dose group. Furthermore, the lean body mass as an indicator of skeletal muscle mass increased in all BYM338 groups compared with the placebo group and the effects were dose-dependent.
