Using Parse's humanbecoming theory in Japan.

In this paper the authors discuss the use of Parse's humanbecoming theory in Japan. Elements of the theory are used in the nursing approach to an 88 year-old Japanese man who had complications following surgery. Process recordings of the dialogues between the patient, the patient's wife, and the nurse were made and considered in light of the three methodologies of Parse's theory; illuminating meaning, synchronizing rhythms, and mobilizing transcendence.

Prevalence of esophageal candidiasis among patients treated with inhaled fluticasone propionate.

Objectives: Development of oropharyngeal candidiasis is a frequently reported adverse effect of inhaled corticosteroid use, but the prevalence of esophageal candidiasis is unknown. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of esophageal candidiasis among patients treated with an inhaled corticosteroid, fluticasone propionate.

Methods: Upper GI endoscopy was performed on 49 patients treated with inhaled fluticasone propionate to examine the prevalence of esophageal candidiasis.
