Non-syndromic bilateral ovarian sex cord stromal tumor with annular tubules in a postmenopausal elderly woman as an incidental finding.

Introduction: Sex cord tumors with annular tubules (SCTAT) are very rare neoplasms comprising less than 1% of sex cord ovarian tumors. They usually occur in women of reproductive age and tend to be associated with Peutz Jeghers Syndrome (PJS), be bilateral, multifocal, and small. When diagnosed in older patients they are often described as sporadic, unilateral, predominantly cystic and bigger.

Vasovagal or neurocardiogenic syncope is a common clinical situation and, as with other entities associated with orthostatic intolerance, the underlying condition is a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. This article reviews various aspects of vasovagal syncope, including its relationship with orthostatic intolerance and the role of the autonomic nervous system in it. A brief history of the problem is given, as well as a description of how the names and associated concepts have evolved.

[Hypertrophic miocardiopathy. An historical and anatomopathological review].

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is characterized by the presence of an abnormal hypertrophy of the left ventricle (LV), without dilation, and in the absence of any condition or another cardiac or systemic disease capable of inducing such hypertrophy. This primary or idiopathic hypertrophy can occur with or without dynamic obstruction (induced by exercise) of the LV outflow tract, so in its natural history two fundamental aspects are highlighted: the production of symptoms by blocking the LV outflow tract and the occurrence of sudden cardiac death secondary to ventricular arrhythmias. This revision includes the work of different Iberoamerican investigators, who contributed in an important way to lay the groundwork of what we know nowadays as HCM.
