Purpose Of Review: This review assesses the impact of early integration of palliative care and the disparities that exist among patients with gynecologic malignancies. It also highlights the recent advances in symptom management, goals of care communication, and end of life care.

Recent Findings: Although palliative care has been utilized earlier, there are still barriers to its integration both nationally and worldwide, manifesting as predominantly late hospice referrals and aggressive care at the end of life.

Cannabis can provide some benefit for nausea and neuropathic pain, yet for nonneuropathic pain presentations, it does not appear to provide significant benefit in reducing opioid usage.

Infection with New York Orthohantavirus and Associated Respiratory Failure and Multiple Cerebral Complications.

We report a case of infection with New York orthohantavirus in a woman who showed renal impairment and hemorrhage, complicated by hydrocephalus, in Long Island, New York, USA. Phylogenetic analysis showed that this virus was genetically similar to a New York orthohantavirus isolated in the same region during 1993.

Epidemiology of Lyme disease among US Veterans in Long Island, New York.

In North America, Lyme disease (LD) is caused predominantly by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferisensu stricto, and is transmitted by blacklegged ticks. Long Island, New York, is highly endemic for the disease. The C6 peptide (C6P) is currently used as a screening test for LD in our institution.

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) defines a condition of hepatic steatosis with or without hepatic injury. NAFLD is increasing in prevalence worldwide and presents a public health burden. Most patients are asymptomatic, although some present with fatigue and right upper quadrant pain.

Prolactin increases survival and migration of ovarian cancer cells: importance of prolactin receptor type and therapeutic potential of S179D and G129R receptor antagonists.

Variably-spliced prolactin receptors (PRLRs) and PRL are expressed by the ovarian cancer cell lines, TOV-112D, OV-90 and TOV-21G. Incubation in the PRLR antagonists, G129R- or S179D-PRL, or anti-PRL reduced cell number, indicating a functional autocrine PRL growth loop.
