Methotrexate in Alopecia Areata: A Report of Three Cases.

There are few studies about systemic treatment in severe cases of alopecia areata (AA), especially in the pediatric population. Although there is more experience with systemic corticosteroids, recent reports have suggested methotrexate (MTX) as an alternative treatment, with a relatively good outcome. We describe three cases of AA in children treated with MTX, two of them with successful results.

[Teledermatology in Paediatrics. Observations in daily clinical practice].

Introduction: Teledermatology is a technique that is increasingly being developed. There are many studies that assess this discipline in the general population, but few studies analyse the paediatric population exclusively. The aims of this study are to describe the distribution of diseases consulted through teledermatology, the use of this technique to avoid face-to-face consultations, and the agreement between virtual and face-to-face diagnoses, in the paediatric population.

Genital primary herpes simplex infection in a 5-month-old infant.

Genital primary herpes simplex infection is very uncommon in infants. Asymptomatic and oral primary infections are the most frequent presentations in this age group. We report a case of genital primary herpetic infection in a 5-month-old male, exclusively breastfed, whose mother suffered from active labial herpes.

Progressive nodular histiocytoma associated with thrombocytopenia with absent radii (TAR syndrome) and angiofibromas.

A 50-year-old woman was admitted due to a long-standing history of cutaneous lesions, which were gradually increasing in number and size, located on the trunk and extremities. Histological studies confirmed the initial clinical diagnosis of histiocytomas. Moreover, the patient had numerous smooth erythematous papules on her chin and around her nose, which were diagnosed histologically as angiofibromas.
