CXCR4 Expression as a Prognostic Biomarker in Soft Tissue Sarcomas.

Poor long-term survival in localized high-risk soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) of the extremities and trunk highlights the need to identify new prognostic factors. CXCR4 is a chemokine receptor involved in tumor progression, angiogenesis, and metastasis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between CXCR4 expression in tumor tissue and survival in STSs patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy.

Survival Differences of Patients with Resected Extraskeletal Osteosarcoma Receiving Two Different (Neo)Adjuvant Chemotherapy Regimens: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Aims: Extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) is a malignant tumour developing in soft tissues, characterised by the production of osteoid or bone matrix by tumour cells. The standard treatment for localised ESOS is wide resection. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are usually incorporated into the management of patients.

Single-Center Experience with Trabectedin for the Treatment of Non-L-sarcomas.

Introduction: The effectiveness of trabectedin for the treatment of leiomyosarcoma and liposarcoma (commonly referred to as L-sarcomas) has been widely evidenced in clinical trials and real-world studies. Nevertheless, available literature on non-L-sarcomas is less abundant. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of trabectedin in a cohort of patients with non-L-sarcomas in the real-world setting.

Pulmonary disease due to Mycobacterium terrae.

A patient with pulmonary disease due to Mycobacterium terrae, a soil saprophyte seldom encountered as a pathogen, is described. The strain was isolated repeatedly from the sputum and gastric washings of the patient in whom no evidence of impairment of cellular or humoral immunity was found. Bacteriological conversion followed initial therapy with isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, ethambutol, streptomycin and pefloxacin for two months, followed by maintenance therapy of isoniazid, rifampicin and pefloxacin.
