Recently, arthroscopic anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) repair has become popular, and favorable outcomes have been reported. In general, ATFL injuries are often caused by fibular attachment, and there are no reports of arthroscopic ligament repair of talar attachment injuries. We present a surgical technique for arthroscopic ligament repair via the anterolateral portal, accessory anterolateral portal, and far accessory anterolateral portal for ATFL injuries on the talar side.

Owing to the limited efficacy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, complete resection is the only available curative treatment. Therefore, developing novel therapies for MFS is important to improve clinical outcomes.

Case: We present a case of secondary osteosarcoma after carbon-ion radiation therapy (CIRT).
Background: Fat is commonly used for preventing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage during endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery (ETSS). However, fat is soft, slippery, and sometimes not easy to handle. The present study aimed to examine the efficacy of our Surgicel wrapping method, which allows for better fat handling, in preventing the occurrence of CSF leakage among patients undergoing ETSS.

Previous research suggested that assisted flexion radiography provides larger flexion with a significantly greater change in lumbar lordosis (ΔLL) and increased sagittal translation (ST), posterior opening (PO), segmental angulation (SA), and instability detection rates. In this study, the authors aimed to identify a safe, simple, and valid position for obtaining functional radiographs to evaluate abnormal instability in lumbar spondylolisthesis.

Currently, CRMO diagnoses are based on a combination of clinical, radiological, pathological, and longitudinal findings. However, distinguishing CRMO from malignant bone tumors using imaging is occasionally challenging.

In this study, a medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) was performed to treat the very extensive osteonecrosis of the tibia. This case demonstrates significant symptomatic relief and functional improvement following OWHTO for spontaneous tibial plateau osteonecrosis.

Restricted KA-TKA (rKA-TKA) addresses abnormal knee anatomies and seeks to replicate natural anatomical structures within safe alignment boundaries. This study introduces a novel device and technique that enables rKA-TKA without computer-assisted surgery (CAS).

Methods: Overall, 203 primary ACL reconstructions were performed using autologous hamstring grafts. Medial and lateral anterior tibial translation (ATT) in the sagittal plane and tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance in the axial plane were measured using pre-operative magnetic resonance imaging and post-operative computed tomography.
We compared the comprehensive clinical outcomes of focal therapy (FT) and robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in patients with localized prostate cancer (PC) using a win ratio analysis. After propensity score matching, a win ratio analysis, in which the composite endpoints of failure-free survival (FFS) and the urinary domain of the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite (EPIC) were analyzed, was used for the comparison of the clinical outcomes of FT and RARP for the patients with localized PC. Seventy-two patients were included in each group after propensity score matching.

Background: Foot and toe function is important for not only sports performance but also preventing and treating musculoskeletal disorders. Although strengthening training specific to intrinsic and extrinsic muscles has been recommended, insufficient information is available in toe exercises in their variation and evidences compared to shoulder or lumbopelvic training strategies. The aim was to examine the effects of a newly developed foot muscle exercise program on toe function in individuals during the growth period.

In this study, we examined whether HIIT using electrical stimulation (ES), which does not require whole-body exercise, improves muscle endurance in the skeletal muscle of 5/6 nephrectomized rats, a widely used animal model for CKD-related cachexia.
Methods: Male Wistar rats (10 weeks old) were randomly assigned to a group of sham-operated (Sham) rats and a group of 5/6 nephrectomy (Nx) rats.
Purpose: To investigate whether inducing valgus alignment and shifting the load laterally through high tibial osteotomy (HTO) alone decreases the extent of medial meniscus extrusion (MME) in the setting of medial meniscus posterior root tear (MMPRT) using ultrasound evaluation.
Methods: Eight fresh-frozen human cadaveric knee specimens were tested using a 6-degree-of-freedom robotic testing system and ultrasound. Each specimen was tested in 5 conditions: (1) intact, (2) MMPRT, (3) medial meniscus repair (MMR), (4) combined medial open-wedge HTO + MMR, and (5) HTO + MMPRT.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the differences in lower limb global alignment and anatomical parameters of coronal whole-leg radiographs, which were generally used in preoperative planning for high tibial osteotomy (HTO), according to different weight-bearing standing positions.
Methods: Between April 2021 and December 2022, 176 patients (60 males and 116 females) were investigated. Full-weight-bearing coronal whole-leg radiographs were obtained with the patella centred on the femoral condyle.
Objectives: Lumbar spondylolysis is a common condition; nonetheless, its cause in patients with spastic cerebral palsy (CP) remains unknown. Furthermore, examination of children with CP may not accurately capture complaints, thus causing diseases to be overlooked. Understanding the clinical features and gait patterns of lumbar spondylolysis in CP can aid in diagnosis.

We retrospectively analyzed the accuracy of cup placement in total hip arthroplasty (THA) using AR-navi, to investigate whether obesity is associated with an absolute value error in cup placement angle. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 45 hips in 43 patients who underwent THA using AR-navi (AR-navi group) and compared them with 45 hips in 45 patients who underwent THA using alignment rods (conventional group).

Somatic mutations in TP53 and some driver genes were implicated in the development of SCC; however, the somatic genetic characteristics of dorsal tongue SCC remain unknown. With a detailed analysis of gene mutations in dorsal tongue SCC, we aimed to better understand its biology.
