Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the sixth most common cancer in men and is often asymptomatic, leading to incidental detection in advanced disease stages that are associated with aggressive histology and poorer outcomes. Various cancer biomarkers are found in urine samples from patients with RCC. In this study, we propose to investigate the use of Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) on dried urine samples for distinguishing RCC.

Chlorogenic acids are plant secondary metabolites, chemically-polyphenols with similar biological activity, formed through the esterification of quinic acid and hydrocinnamic acid moieties. They are best known for their high concentration in coffee and other dietary sources and the antioxidant properties that they exhibit. Both chlorogenic acids and plant extracts containing significant amounts of the compounds show promising in vitro activity against colorectal cancer.

The advent of Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) has enabled the exploration and detection of small molecules, particularly in biological fluids such as serum, blood plasma, urine, saliva, and tears. SERS has been proposed as a simple diagnostic technique for various diseases, including cancer. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) ranks as the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer in men and is often asymptomatic, with detection occurring incidentally.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents the third type of cancer in incidence and second in mortality worldwide, with the newly diagnosed case number on the rise. Among the diagnosed patients, approximately 70% have no hereditary germ-line mutations or family history of pathology, thus being termed sporadic CRC. Diet and environmental factors are to date considered solely responsible for the development of sporadic CRC; therefore; attention should be directed towards the discovery of preventative actions to combat the CRC initiation, promotion, and progression.

Background And Objectives: One important forensic activity is the assessment of aesthetic injuries where expert criteria and analysis are insufficiently outlined due to the subjective elements related to the traumatized victim. Unaesthetic morphological changes may occur due to various circumstances committed under the Penal Code, resulting in permanent unaesthetic morphological scarring. Considering that most of the existing scales for the assessment of aesthetic prejudices refer only to morphometric changes, our aim was to create a modern method for the evaluation of aesthetic damage that also considers its social and psychological consequences.

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is one of the serious complications of diabetes, being related to frequent and long-term hospitalisation, reduced quality of life of the patient, amputations, a high rate of morbidity and mortality. The bacterial aetiology is complex, sometimes involving more than one pathogen, playing a major role in the infection prognosis and development of microbial resistance. This study evaluated the current state of the aetiology, clinical and pathological characteristics of DFU in a single diabetes centre in order to provide some specific measures to prevent it.

The spectrum and antibiotic sensitivity of isolated strains vary between departments, hospitals, countries; the discrepancies are related to the use and dosage of these antibiotics. The purpose of our research was to compare the type of pathogens and the susceptibility of the isolated strains, as well as the use of antibiotics in the surgical departments of the Emergency Clinical County Hospital, Oradea, Romania; for one year, all the patients admitted to the mentioned sections were monitored. Antibiotic sensitivity of isolated strains was expressed using cumulative antibiogram.
