Introduction: Rapid response teams (RRTs) are prevalent in healthcare institutions worldwide. Repeated activations are associated with increased morbidity and higher resource utilisation, and represent a heterogeneous population that may benefit from early identification. To date, there are no published data on repeat RRT activations in Singapore.

Introduction: Poor quality sleep has often been cited as a cause of lowered quality of life in patients with affective disorders such as major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). As sleep and affective disorders are affected by multi-network interactions, we hypothesize that the modulation of the central executive network (CEN), salience, and default mode networks (DMNs) through individualized repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) may improve sleep and quality of life.

Methods: A retrospective analysis from 2020 to 2023 was conducted in patients with affective disorders at Cingulum Health.

Industrial circular water use practices through the application of a conceptual water efficiency framework in the process industry.

Increased industrial water demand and resource depletion require the incorporation of sustainable and efficient water and wastewater management solutions in the industrial sector. Conventional and advanced treatment technologies, closed-water loops at different levels from an industrial process to collaborative networks among industries within the same or another sector and digital tools and services facilitate the materialization of circular water use practices. To this end, the scope of this paper is the application of the Conceptual Water Efficiency Framework (CWEF), which has been developed within the AquaSPICE project aspiring to enhance water circularity within industries in a holistic way.

The association between obstructive sleep apnea and osteoporosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder with well-known metabolic consequences. The relationship between OSA and bone health, especially osteoporosis, remains poorly understood. Given that both OSA and osteoporosis are highly prevalent chronic conditions with significant public health implications, this study aims to investigate the association of OSA with bone health and osteoporosis.

Outbreak preparedness and response strategies in ASEAN member states: a scoping review.

Objectives: The 21 century has witnessed significant disease outbreaks with severe impact in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, including SARS, H1N1, H5N1, and COVID-19. This review aimed to compile and analyze outbreak preparedness and response strategies, highlighting the success of coordinated multi-sectoral approaches and policy responses within the ASEAN region.

Methods: The protocol for this review was registered on the Open Science Framework and PROSPERO.

Feasibility and acceptability of a dengue self-monitoring system to reduce treatment delay in Malaysia: A single-centre pilot randomised controlled trial.

Objective: Most dengue cases are managed in an outpatient setting, where patients are advised to return to the clinic daily for monitoring. Some patients can develop severe dengue at home and fail to recognise the deterioration. An application called DengueAid was designed as a self-monitoring tool for patients to reduce delay in seeking timely treatment.

Background: Effective risk communication about medicines is crucial to the success of all pharmacovigilance activities but remains a worldwide challenge. Risk communication has been conducted in Malaysia for decades, yet awareness on the communication methods remains low among healthcare professionals. While international guidelines are available, clear guidance on effectively communicating the risks of medicines in specific countries is scarce.

To facilitate our understanding of proteome dynamics during signaling events, robust workflows affording fast time resolution without confounding factors are essential. We present Surface-exposed protein Labeling using PeroxidaSe, HO, and Tyramide-derivative (SLAPSHOT) to label extracellularly exposed proteins in a rapid, specific, and sensitive manner. Simple and flexible SLAPSHOT utilizes recombinant soluble APEX2 protein applied to cells, thus circumventing the engineering of tools and cells, biological perturbations, and labeling biases.

Malaysian Medical Students' Career Intention (MMSCI): a cross-sectional study.

Background: In recent years, there have been many instances of negative sentiments expressed by and resignations observed from doctors working in the Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia. However, little is known about the perspectives of medical students and their career intentions. This study aims to determine the current Malaysian medical students' career intentions immediately after graduation and upon completing the 2 years of housemanship and to establish the factors influencing these intentions.

Immunosuppression for adult steroid-dependent or frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: There is limited evidence on which immunosuppressive agents produce the best outcomes for adult patients with steroid-dependent or frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome (SDNS/FRNS). This review compares the remission rate and adverse effects of various immunosuppressants used.

Methods: Studies of adult patients with biopsy-proven SDNS/FRNS, administered any immunosuppressive agents and reported complete remission results as one of the clinical outcomes were included.

Background: The persistently high incidence of stroke in many nations is suggestive of an area for further improvement on existing strategies of primary stroke prevention. Although the era of digitalisation has led to the increasing use of mobile applications (apps) in healthcare, more studies are needed to determine the efficacy of apps in producing the desired health outcomes across different nations and cultures.

Objective: To describe the development and evaluate the usability of a mobile app in delivering a culturally adapted stroke prevention educational programme for middle-aged adults in the Republic of China.

Accelerated biological brain aging in major depressive disorder.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) patients commonly encounter multiple types of functional disabilities, such as social, physical, and role functioning. MDD is related to an accreted risk of brain atrophy, aging-associated brain diseases, and mortality. Based on recently available studies, there are correlations between notable biological brain aging and MDD in adulthood.

An innovative model of delivering cancer care in the community: the experience of a tertiary cancer centre in Singapore.

Background: Cancer care has evolved rapidly, increasing the demand on healthcare resources. While many non-oral cancer treatments are administered in the hospital, not all necessitate complex medical care. Treatments that can be administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or as short intravenous infusions with a low risk of extravasation can be safely administered in the community.

Psychological Resilience in Post-acute Care: A Cross-Sectional Study of Health Care Workers in Singapore Community Hospitals.

Objectives: Psychological resilience is a crucial component of mental health and well-being for health care workers. It is positively linked to compassion satisfaction and inversely associated with burnout. The current literature on health care worker resilience has mainly focused on primary care and tertiary hospitals, but there is a lack of studies in post-acute and transitional care settings.
