This study was carried out to determine the effect of clotrimazole (CTZ), an imidazole fungicide on behavior, brain acetylcholinesterase, lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress parameters in Clarias gariepinus juveniles. Fish were acutely exposed to five nominal concentrations of CTZ and control to assess the behavioral effects on fish. To determine the effects on brain acetylcholinesterase, lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress parameters, fish were exposed to three sub-lethal concentrations vis 7.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the effects of aqueous tobacco leaf extract on the health of male Wister rats by examining changes in their liver, kidney, and lipid profile over a 30-day period.
  • - Results show that while kidney function remained largely unaffected, liver health deteriorated, indicated by increased enzyme levels and signs of tissue damage such as necrosis and inflammation.
  • - The tobacco extract led to unfavorable changes in lipid levels, increasing triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein while decreasing high-density lipoprotein, suggesting potentially serious health impacts from tobacco consumption.

Objective: While the dangers of consuming tobacco by smoking has been of concern, the hazardous effect of other forms of tobacco consumption (in smokeless form) on health indices are less well explored. In this paper, we explored the effect of different doses of aqueous extract of tobacco leaves on feed intake, body mass, and hematological indices of male Wistar rats under equal environmental conditions.

Method: Using an oral route of administration, the rats (n = 24; w = 65-85 g; 2-3 weeks old) were administered at different doses of 100, 200, 400, 0 mg/kg body weight (b.

Clotrimazole (CLO) is an imidazole fungicide used in human and veterinary medicine for treating fungal infection. This study evaluated the changes in morphological, haematological and biochemical indices in Clarias gariepinus juveniles exposed to CLO. After the acute exposure, the 96 h LC value of CLO determined by probit analysis was 38.
