Microbial infections have been linked to the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative diseases. The present study aimed to synthesise and assess global evidence of microbial pathogenesis and pathophysiology in AD (MPP-AD) and associated neurodegenerative conditions using integrated science mapping and content analytics to explore the associated research landscape. Relevant MPP-AD documents were retrieved from Web of Science and Scopus according to PRISMA principles and analysed for productivity/trend linked to authors/countries, thematic conceptual framework, and international collaborative networks.

Spatio-temporal distribution of pathogens in freshwater is driven by environmental variables (EVs), natural, and human-induced activities and the spread of infections and disease outbreaks are triggered significantly by these processes. The role of EVs and anthropogenic activities on the distribution of Plesiomonas shigelloides is not well understood; hence this study aimed at modelling the effects of EVs and anthropogenic gradients on the densities of Plesiomonas in freshwaters and freshwater quality. Three freshwaters were sampled from February to December 2017.

Here, we carried out a bibliometric survey that aimed to examine publication trends in Plesiomonas-related research by time and place, international collaborative works, identify gaps and suggest directions for future research.
