Background: Type 2 diabetes is becoming highly prevalent worldwide and it is one of the leading causes of mortality. The cause of mortality among these patients is mostly related to the dominant presence of modifiable cardiovascular risk factors such as obesity. We report on the first evaluation of prevalence and associations with dyslipidemia due to HIV and cART among HIV-infected Ethiopian children.
Methods: 105 cART naïve and 215 treatment experienced HIV-infected children were enrolled from nine HIV centers.
