Aim: The aim of this study is to present the changes in the treatment of liver hydatid cyst during the last 20 years in our clinic according to literature data.
Material And Methods: Clinical, laboratory and operational findings and pre- and postoperative complications of 650 from 700 patients with liver hydatid cysts, examined and treated at Selcuk University Meram Medicine Faculty, General Surgery Department, between 1985-2005, were evaluated in two groups: 1st period (1985-1995) and 2nd period (1995-2005).
Results: 436 of the cases were females (67.
Background/aims: We aimed to present the experience of the first 100 liver transplantations carried out at Akdeniz University.
Methods: The data of 100 patients in pediatric and adult age groups who underwent liver transplantation at Akdeniz University Organ Transplantation Center between January 2000 and January 2007 were examined retrospectively. The cases between January 2000 and December 2003 were evaluated as the first term and those between January 2004 and January 2007 as the second term.

It is one of the most important problems for general surgeons to decide which operation should be undertaken on patients with intra-abdominal infection, especially those with concomitant abdominal hypertension. Recently, closure techniques using prosthetic meshes in order to retain abdominal tension and to control sepsis have become very popular for patients with abdominal sepsis and hypertension. We used chorioamniotic membrane instead of plastic material to cover the open abdomen.

Horseshoe kidneys may be transplanted to a single recipient en bloc or to 2 recipients after division. In our clinic, 3 grafts (1 obtained from a living donor and 2 from a deceased donor) were successfully transplanted to 3 patients.

Cardiovascular effects of GnRH agonists are unclear. In this study, we investigated the short term effects of GnRH agonists on plasma fibrinolytic parameters in patients with metastatic prostate cancer.

As an amendatory surgical approach, augmentation ileo-cystoplasty is the preferred option to achieve a low intravesical storage pressure. However, the timing of the augmentation ileo-cystoplasty in combination with renal transplantation is still controversial.

It has also been recognized that there is a significant relationship between the autonomic nervous system and adverse cardiac events. Heart rate recovery (HRR) after exercise is a marker of parasympathetic activity and attenuation of this parameter has been shown to be associated with increased cardiac mortality.

Materials And Methods: Thirty Sprague Dawley rats were divided into three groups of 10 rats each. Group I (control group) was subjected to colon anastomosis only.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair of full-thickness tears and to determine prognostic factors.
Methods: Forty-one shoulders of 40 patients (16 males, 24 females; mean age 56 years; range 39 to 72 years) unresponsive to conservative treatment were evaluated. The mean symptom duration was 15 months (range 2 to 24 months).
Objective: The traditional management of appendiceal mass is initial conservative treatment followed by interval appendicectomy. Recently interval appendicectomy has been questioned by a growing amount of evidence. The purpose of this study was to clarify the role of interval appendicectomy after successful initial conservative treatment.

Materials And Methods: Rats were assigned to five groups: Group 1: Control. Group 2: chitin layers were used.
Background: This study investigated the value of exercise-induced ST-segment elevation in lead aVR with or without concomitant ST-segment elevation in lead V(1) for detection of left main (LM) coronary artery disease in patients with Duke treadmill score
Methods: One hundred and four patients with Duke treadmill score
Results: Twenty-six out of 65 patients with ST-segment elevation in lead aVR and 24 out 38 patients with ST-segment elevation in lead aVR with concomitant ST-segment elevation in lead V(1) were found to have LM disease.
Objective: Early mortality after coronary artery bypass grafting is generally higher in women than in men. This study analyzes the effect of female gender on early mortality of coronary artery bypass grafting particularly for left main coronary artery disease.
Methods: Study population consisted of 144 consecutive patients (33 women, 111 men) undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting for left main coronary artery disease.
The purpose of this study was to assess outcomes of urological complications after kidney transplantation operation. Nine-hundred and sixty-five patients received a kidney transplant between 2000 and 2006. In total, 58 (6.

Methods: We retrospectively studied 24,038 consecutive coronary angiography procedures carried out at The Baskent University Adana Hospital from 1998 to present to determine the total number of stent embolization events.
Results: Among them, 4,797 were consecutive coronary stent operations and embolization was encountered in 14 cases (0.
It has been demonstrated that rheumatic mitral valve stenosis (RMVS) is associated with an increase in markers of endothelial dysfunction. It is not known whether this association indicates an impairment of flow-mediated dilatation (FMD) of the vascular endothelium. Thirty patients with RMVS and 30 healthy subjects were studied.

The results are compared with the outcome of counterpoise corrected supermolecular calculations employing second-order Møller-Plesset (MP2), spin-component scaled MP2 (SCS-MP2) and single and double excitation coupled cluster theory including perturbative triple excitations (CCSD(T)). For all considered orientations MP2 predicts much deeper potential energy curves with considerably shifted minima compared to CCSD(T) and DFT-SAPT.

Between 1997 and 2005, 32 patients (aged 27-63 years) with a high anal or rectal internal opening were treated with a cutting seton. In the postoperative period none of the patients had recurrence or solid stool incontinence.

Despite the excellent cosmetic and functional results, prolonged catheterization (7-14 days) remains the main disadvantage of the TIP repair. In this study, we investigated the outcomes of the short-term catheterization in children with distal hypospadias in order to elucidate any relationship between the length of catheterization and the patients' age, meatal localization and postoperative complication rates.

The effects of statins on the autonomic nervous system may account for their beneficial effects in survival. Our aim was to determine if statin therapy improves heart rate recovery in hypercholesterolemic patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Internal herniation is one of the rare reasons of intestine clog, which is hard to diagnose and usually needs an urgent surgical treatment. We report 3 patients with internal herniation in the mesenteric cavity of the terminal ileum. Besides intestinal congestion, they also had peritoneal irritation.
