Unveiling the experiences of operation room nurses on ethical issues: a phenomenological study in Adama Hospital Medical College, Ethiopia, 2022.

Background: Operating room nurses are critical in upholding high ethical standards in fast-paced and high-stakes environment to guarantee the safety and well-being of patients undergoing surgery to resolve life-threatening situations. A deeper understanding of ethical issues in the Operating Room helps tailor interventions and policies to address real-world challenges, enhance patient care, and assist healthcare professionals.

Objective: This study explored the lived experiences of Operating Room nurses regarding ethical issues in Operating Room at Adama Hospital Medical College in Adama, Ethiopia, in 2022.

Breaking bad news in oncology practice: experience and challenges of oncology health professionals in Ethiopia - an exploratory qualitative study.

Objective: To explore the experience and challenges health professionals face during breaking bad news (BBN) to patients with cancer in the oncology centre of Black Lion Specialized Hospital (BLSH), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 2019.

Design: An exploratory qualitative phenominological study using in-depth interviews was carried out in the only radiotherapy integrated oncology centre in Ethiopia during March 2019. Purposeful maximum variation sampling was used to select participants.

Deep Reinforcement Learning-Assisted Optimization for Resource Allocation in Downlink OFDMA Cooperative Systems.

This paper considers a downlink resource-allocation problem in distributed interference orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) systems under maximal power constraints. As the upcoming fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks are increasingly complex and heterogeneous, it is challenging for resource allocation tasks to optimize the system performance metrics and guarantee user service requests simultaneously. Because of the non-convex optimization problems, using existing approaches to find the optimal resource allocation is computationally expensive.

A Review of Fundamental Optimization Approaches and the Role of AI Enabling Technologies in Physical Layer Security.

With the proliferation of 5G mobile networks within next-generation wireless communication, the design and optimization of 5G networks are progressing in the direction of improving the physical layer security (PLS) paradigm. This phenomenon is due to the fact that traditional methods for the network optimization of PLS fail to adapt new features, technologies, and resource management to diversified demand applications. To improve these methods, future 5G and beyond 5G (B5G) networks will need to rely on new enabling technologies.

The Socioeconomic Impact of Cervical Cancer on Patients in Ethiopia: Evidence from Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital.

Background: Cervical cancer is very common among women living in low-resource environments, according to the literature. About 85% of the cases and 88% of the deaths due to cervical cancer occurred in developing countries. Women in low- and middle-income countries have a 35% higher average life risk of cervical cancer than women in high-income countries.

Prevalence of Methicillin-Resistant and Associated Risk Factors among Patients with Wound Infection at Referral Hospital, Northeast Ethiopia.

Background: The spectrums of infections due to methicillin-resistant are manifold and are associated with worse outcomes. A study on the prevalence of these pathogens and their sensitivity patterns will give updated information which is very helpful for health personnel responsible in the management of patients and timely monitoring of the emergence of resistant bacteria. Hence, the study aimed at assessing the prevalence of methicillin-resistant and associated factors among patients with wound infection at Dessie Referral Hospital.

Galanin Receptors as Drug Target for Novel Antidepressants: Review.

Galanin (GAL) is a 29-amino-acid neuropeptide that serves multiple physiological functions throughout the central and peripheral nervous system. Its role involves in a range of physiological and pathological functions including control of food intake, neuro-protection, neuronal regeneration, energy expenditure, reproduction, water balance, mood, nociception and various neuroendocrine functions. The use of currently available antidepressant drugs raises concerns regarding efficacy and onset of action; therefore, the need for antidepressants with novel mechanisms is increasing.

Antidiabetic Effect of Germinated Seed Extract in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Mice.

Background: seed has been used in traditional practices to treat various ailments, including diabetes mellitus, in Ethiopia. Previous phytochemical screening studies indicated that germination of the seed of contains more bioactive constituents compared to raw seeds. The aim of this study was to investigate the antidiabetic activity of an aqueous methanol extract of germinated seed extract in streptozotocin (Stz)-induced diabetic mice.

A Game-Theoretic Framework to Preserve Location Information Privacy in Location-based Service Applications.

Recently, the growing ubiquity of location-based service (LBS) technology has increased the likelihood of users' privacy breaches due to the exposure of their real-life information to untrusted third parties. Extensive use of such LBS applications allows untrusted third-party adversarial entities to collect large quantities of information regarding users' locations over time, along with their identities. Due to the high risk of private information leakage using resource-constrained smart mobile devices, most LBS users may not be adequately encouraged to access all LBS applications.

Small ruminant brucellosis and community perception in Jijiga District, Somali Regional State, Eastern Ethiopia.

A cross-sectional study of brucellosis in small ruminants was carried out from October 2008 to March 2009 in Jijiga District, Somali Regional State of Ethiopia. Seven hundred thirty sera samples (421 of sheep and 309 of goats) were randomly collected from purposively selected villages of the study area. Structured questionnaire format was developed, pre-tested and administered to assess the perception of the community pertaining to brucellosis in sheep and goats.
