Caregiver burden and quality of life in palliative care: cross-sectional study.

Background: Literature on caregiver burden is limited in India and Kerala. We examined the prevalence and factors associated with caregiver burden and its impact on their quality of life.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study among 115 informal caregivers (mean age 70 years, 80% female) of palliative care patients in Kerala.

Background: Multifaceted dimensions influence the quality of life among post-menopausal women. Osteoporosis, a condition characterized by fragile bones, poses a significant risk, potentially leading to fractures and decreased wellbeing. Anemia Among School Children in Ernakulam District, Kerala, India.

Anaemia has significant negative impact on the health of school children including poor scholastic performance and cognitive impairment. The present study was done with the objective to estimate the prevalence of anemia among school going children in Ernakulam district, Kerala and to determine a few factors associated with anemia. Hemoglobin of 880 students of 6th to 9th standard in 11 randomly selected schools of Ernakulam district was estimated using HemoCue 201 photometer.

Neglected tropical diseases (visceral leismaniasis, lymphatic filariasis) and malaria are endemic in northern states of India. Kerala has become a hub of construction activities employing a large number of migrants from these endemic states. Studies on morbidity pattern among migrants in Kerala are lacking.

Health-related quality of life in Indian children: A community-based cross-sectional survey.

Background & Objectives: There are limited data on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) related to Indian children. The objective of this study was to construct a generic HRQOL reference for children aged 2-18 yr from a community setting.

Methods: The study was a community-based cross-sectional survey.

Context: Gender differences in the risk of developing non-communicable diseases (NCD) are a matter of debate. The susceptibility of a woman to NCD should be evaluated taking into consideration the social factors that limit the physical activity among women. It will be interesting to note what will happen if women are allowed to take part in physical exercise to the extent of men.
