Background: Controversy persists regarding medicinal injections for mechanical neck disorders (MNDs).
Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of physician-delivered injections on pain, function/disability, quality of life, global perceived effect and patient satisfaction for adults with MNDs.
Search Methods: We updated our previous searches of CENTRAL, MEDLINE and EMBASE from December 2006 through to March 2012.

Elevated operating theatre noise can be hazardous to patient safety and may cause occupational stress. In a nine-hospital study, background noise and average noise were measured, during operations in different subspecialties, and found to be higher than noise levels recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for hospital areas in which patient care takes place. In operations in which nurses had also answered a question about hearing 'quiet', 'normal', and 'loud' talking, speech interference levels were estimated and indicated that nurses and other personnel had to substantially raise their voices to be well understood.

Methods: We searched CENTRAL (Issue 4, 2002), and MEDLINE, EMBASE, MANTIS, CINHAL from their start to March 2003. Two authors independently selected articles, abstracted data, and assessed methodological quality using the Jadad criteria.
