Introduction: Variability in implementation of enhanced recovery protocols (ERPs) often reduces the effects of an intervention on clinical outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate hospital-level implementation fidelity to a pediatric gastrointestinal surgery ERP by assessing site-specific implementation materials.
Methods: This document analysis study operationalized implementation fidelity as adherence to the creation of specified materials at each study site.
Background: Racial and ethnic minorities have experienced a disproportionate burden of severe COVID-19. Whether chronic stress, also disproportionately experienced by racial and ethnic minorities, explains this excess risk is unknown.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, more health care issues were being managed remotely. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are being managed more often using telehealth although few reports compare the rate of UTI ancillary service orders placed and fulfilled during these visits.
Objectives: We aimed to evaluate and compare the rate of ancillary service orders and order fulfillments in incident UTI diagnoses between virtual and in-person encounters.
Background: The delivery of adult primary care (APC) shifted from predominately in-person to modes of virtual care during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is unclear how these shifts impacted the likelihood of APC use during the pandemic, or how patient characteristics may be associated with the use of virtual care.

Introduction: We explored patient, caregiver, and provider recommendations for development of a tool kit to implement enhanced recovery protocols (ERPs) for pediatric patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. Although it is acknowledged that social determinants of health (SDOH) rather than biological factors likely contribute to this disparity, few studies using rigorous analytic approaches in large, information-rich community-based data sets are dedicated to understanding the underlying drivers of these racial disparities.
Objective: The overall aim of our study is to elucidate the mechanisms by which racial disparities in severe COVID-19 outcomes arise, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a priority method for preventing HIV infection. This study's aims were threefold: (1) identify characteristics of members of a large health maintenance organization, Kaiser Permanente Georgia (KPGA), associated with HIV infection, (2) identify which member characteristics associated with HIV were also associated with PrEP prescription, and (3) identify which HIV-associated characteristics were associated with under- or over-prescribing of PrEP. Analysis of variables from the electronic medical record revealed that age, race, gender, mental health diagnosis, STI diagnosis, and sexual orientation were independently associated with HIV diagnosis.

Several studies have demonstrated that the use of an ERP for gastrointestinal surgery results in decreased length of stay, shortened time to a regular diet, and fewer administered opioids, while also trending toward lower complication and 30-day readmission rates. Study Design: A random-assignment parallel-group comparative treatment efficacy trial was conducted with random assignment to 1 of 3 conditions.
Background: African American adolescent females are disproportionately affected by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV. Given the elevated risk of STIs and HIV in African American women, there is an urgent need to identify innovative strategies to enhance the adoption and maintenance of STI and HIV preventive behaviors. Texting is a promising technology for creating preventive maintenance interventions (PMIs) that extend the efficacy of the original intervention.
