Elevated serum CA 19-9 level mimicking pancreaticobiliary carcinoma from a hepatic abscess: case report and literature review.

Serum levels of the tumor marker CA 19-9 are widely utilized in the diagnosis and monitoring pancreatic and biliary malignancies. However, serum levels of CA 19-9 have also been reportedly elevated in non-malignant conditions. Here, we present the rare case of a 65-year-old woman with a history of gallbladder malignancy who was found to have a new hepatic lesion on surveillance CT with an associated elevation in CA 19-9 to 5,866 U/mL.

Analysis of length of stay and treatment emergent complications in hospitalized myasthenia gravis patients with exacerbation.

Introduction: AIMS Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is an autoimmune neuromuscular disease in which patients suffer from recurrent exacerbation. There are insufficient data measuring the effects of the resources employed before and during acute exacerbation on subsequent disease outcomes. This study aims to identify factors which lead to lengthened hospital stay.

A silica gel orthogonal high-performance liquid chromatography method for the analyses of steviol glycosides: novel tetra-glucopyranosyl steviol.

A silica gel orthogonal method using acetonitrile: water was developed for the analyses of fractions rich in very polar steviol glycosides and resolve regions of co-elution of these compounds in reversed-phase. Additionally, we also used this normal phase analytical method to scale up the purification process of steviol glycosides. Using these approaches, one novel minor tetra-glucopyranosyl diterpene glycosides together with three known compounds were purified from a commercial leaf extract.
