We describe here a rapid, high-throughput genotyping procedure that allows the simultaneous detection of 16 high- and low-risk genital human papillomavirus (HPV) types by multiplex PCR in a single reaction tube. Multiplex PCR is based on the amplification of HPV DNA by sets of HPV genotype-specific primers, and the genotypes of HPV are visually identified by the sizes of amplicons after they are separated by capillary electrophoresis. The procedure does not include a hybridization step with HPV-specific probes and is rapid and labor-saving.

Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) may play an important role in the pathogenesis of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). We examined whether MIF has an influence on the development of aGVHD and survival using BALB/c-based MIF knock-out (MIF KO) mice. Although MIF expression was observed in lymphocytes that had infiltrated the liver during aGVHD in both wild-type (WT) and MIF KO mice that received bone marrow cells (BM) and spleen cells (SP) from C57BL/6N mice, no significant difference was found in severity of aGVHD or survival rate between the two groups of mice.
