Sweat duct carcinoma of lip with multiple cervical lymph nodes metastasis.

Sclerosing sweat duct carcinoma (SSDC) is a rare cutaneous neoplasm. A 28-year-old man presented with 2-3 years history of a tetter on his upper lip, and a 3 cm x 4 cm lymph node was palpable in the left submandibular area. MRI showed a mass in the upper lip extending into the buccal mucosa and orbicular muscle, and multiple cervical lymph nodes metastasis on both sides was suspected.

[Rehabilitation and return-to-work after laryngectomy: the role of industrial otolaryngologists].

Rehabilitation and return-to-work are important problems for laryngectomized patients. Here, we report 2 cases of laryngectomized middle-aged men, and discuss the role of otolaryngologists from the viewpoint of an industrial physician. The first case is a 55-year-old post-office male clerk, who underwent radical and reconstructive surgery for hypopharyngeal carcinoma.

Two cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in the accessory parotid gland.

Primary malignant lymphomas in the salivary glands are relatively rare and tumors of the accessory parotid gland comprise only 1% of parotid tumors. We present two cases with a painless swelling of the cheek region. In both cases histological diagnoses of primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma were made following complete excision of the accessory parotid gland tumor.

[A case of cervical necrotizing soft tissue infection].

We treated a 62-year-old woman with a cervical necrotizing soft tissue infection of the Streptococcus milleri group. Numerous spot gas images were recognized from the right pharynx to the neck in CT at initial diagnosis, but we chose conservative treatment because abscess findings were not clear. The inflammation improved temporarily, but we operated through an outside incision because symptoms recurred and cervical skin became necrotic after one week.

[A case of spinal epidural abscess associated with retropharyngeal abscess].

Spinal epidural abscesses are known to occur associated with retropharyngeal abscess, but such cases are few in the literature. We treated a 72-year-old woman who reported pain in the back of the neck. Computed tomography (CT) showed a retropharyngeal abscess extending to the upper neck through the carotid space on the left side and an magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a spinal epidural abscess without cervical vertebral osteomyelitis.

[Case of acute deep neck infection in a patient with aplastic anemia].

Aplastic anemia often causes a life-threatening infection. We report a case of deep neck infection in a 30-year-old man with aplastic anemia treated with intensive antibiotics after admission, who rapidly recovered without surgery. The infection was caused by dental caries with an immunocompromised host via hemodyscrasia.
