Doxorubicin + cisplatin and paclitaxel + carboplatin are standard chemotherapy regimens for endometrial cancer. The development of PD-1 and PDL-1 antibody drugs has led to the use of these agents for endometrial cancer in other countries. The KEYNOTE-775 trial for advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer demonstrated the benefits of pembrolizumab and lenvatinib combination therapy, and the results of this trial led to the approval of its coverage for recurrent cancer by the Japanese health insurance system.

The butterfly technique can prevent systolic anterior motion in patients with degenerative mitral regurgitation and redundant posterior leaflets, but it is difficult to perform via minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Few reports have described mitral valve repair using the butterfly technique or in a narrow chest.

Pott's puffy tumor (PPT) is a rare clinical entity characterized by osteomyelitis of the frontal bone accompanied by a subperiosteal abscess. A 56-year-old female with a history of cranial surgery and bronchial asthma presented to an otolaryngology clinic with nasal obstruction and loss of smell, later developing swelling and redness on her forehead.

The non-robotic endoscopic mitral valve surgery is performed via a right mini-thoracotomy without the use of rib spreader or robotic assistance. Although it has several advantages over the direct vision minimally invasive and robotic approaches, operating in very limited working space without robotic assistance is technically demanding. In the first place, it is impossible to perform non-robotic endoscopic mitral valve surgery safely and efficiently without knowing how to approach and expose the mitral valve in very limited working space without robotic assistance.

The main points of the classification are as follows: stage IIIC is newly established; pelvic lymph node metastasis is stage IIIC1; and para-aortic lymph node metastasis is stage IIIC2. Currently, in Japan, radical hysterectomy is performed in advanced stages IA2 to IIB of FIGO2014, and concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) is recommended for patients with positive lymph nodes.

Using the rice leaffolder moth, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Guenée), we determined the effect of increased age at mating imposed on males only (male treatment), females only (female treatment),or on both sexes simultaneously (both sexes treatment). These increased age treatments had a negative effect on the percentage of mating, the total number of eggs, and the hatchability.

A high concentration of trail pheromone disrupts ant trail following and foraging, and thus synthetic trail pheromone can be a novel control agent for pest ants. In this study, a year-long treatment of small areas (100 m(2) plots of urban house gardens) with synthetic trail pheromone, insecticidal bait or both was conducted to develop a novel control method of the invasive Argentine ant Linepithema humile (Mayr).

In this study, a long-term field trial was conducted in 100-m2 plots of house gardens in an urban area of Japan to see whether the control effect on Argentine ants can be obtained by permeating synthetic trail pheromone from dispensers. The dispensers were placed in the experimental plots during the ant's active season (April-November) for 2 yr with monthly renewal.

Since differentiation of sex pheromones is often associated with speciation, it is intriguing to know how the changes in female sex pheromone have been tracked by the pheromone recognition system of the males. A male-specific odorant receptor was found to have been conserved through the evolution of sex pheromone communication systems in the genus Ostrinia (Lepidoptera: Crambidae).

At a step in the pheromone biosynthetic pathway, fatty-acyl precursors are converted to corresponding alcohols by an enzyme, fatty-acyl reductase (FAR). Here we report the cloning of FAR-like genes expressed in the pheromone gland of female O.

The sex pheromone of Ostrinia scapulalis (the adzuki bean borer) is a blend of (Z)-11- and (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetates (Z/E11-14:OAc), whereas that of Ostrinia furnacalis (the Asian corn borer) is a blend of (Z)-12- and (E)-12-tetradecenyl acetates (Z/E12-14:OAc). Delta11-Desaturase is known to be involved in the biosynthesis of Z/E11-14:OAc, and Delta14-desaturase, in that of Z/E12-14:OAc.

Insects have evolved a marked diversity of mechanisms to produce loud conspicuous sounds for efficient communication. However, the risk of eavesdropping by competitors and predators is high. Here, we describe a mechanism for producing extremely low-intensity ultrasonic songs (46 dB sound pressure level at 1 cm) adapted for private sexual communication in the Asian corn borer moth, Ostrinia furnacalis.
