Background: Pycnodysostosis (PD, OMIM # 265800) is a rare variant of skeletal dysplasia with an autosomal recessive type of inheritance, characterized by a combination of specific features such as disproportionate nanism, generalized osteosclerosis, and distinct craniofacial dysmorphism.
