Investigation of biotransformation capacity in patients with chronic liver diseases by pharmacokinetic methods: experimental trials.

The drug metabolizing capacity of patients with liver disease varies with the characteristics and the state of the disease. The aim of our studies on patients with various chronic liver diseases was to get information about the rational dosage for these patients. Our method in the first phase was antipyrine kinetics (hydroxylation), in the second phase sulfadimidine kinetics (acetylation) and menthol loading (glucuronidation).

Iron turnover in patients with chronic uraemia treated with hemodialysis.

Radio-iron kinetic tests were performed in 7 patients with end-stage renal disease treated by hemodialysis; the study could be completed in 6 patients. The incorporation of radio-iron into the erythrocytes was 21% on average in patients with acute anemia. The red cell life-span determined in 4 patients became significantly shorter in 3 patients.

Dynamics of adrenal steroidogenesis in childhood: steroid excretion in prepubertal and pubertal girls.

C19-C21O2-3 steroid spectrum and C21O5 corticoids have been studied in the urine collected from 29 girls aged 2-14 years. A total of 34 investigations was carried out by means of simultaneous two-column gas chromatography. The values of steroid excretion have been expressed in terms related to body weight and body surface, respectively.

Study of force development in resting and activated muscles during velocity dependent stretching.

The time course in force development of gastrocnemius muscles isolated from frog (Rama esculenta) were investigated under the effect of stretching with different velocity and time characteristics. Time course of stretching were linear, parabolic and exponential. It was found that the changes in force development of both resting and activated muscles depend on the time characteristics of the stretching applied.
