We present theoretical and experimental evidence of high-gain far-detuned nonlinear frequency conversion, extending towards both the visible and the mid-infrared, in a few-mode graded-index silica fiber pumped at 1.064 , and more specifically achieving gains of hundreds of dB per meter below 0.65 and beyond 3.

The aim is to demonstrate that the selective excitation of different combinations of linearly polarized spatial modes at the pump wavelength initiates distinct intermodal-vectorial four-wave mixing processes. In particular, this study shows that exciting two orthogonally polarized LP and LP modes can lead to the simultaneous generation of up to three pairs of different spatial modes of orthogonal polarizations at different wavelengths.

Both nonlinear effects were generated in microstructured silica fibers, pumped with low-power femtosecond pulses at 1.56 µm originating from an erbium-doped fiber laser.

We characterize the resulting SC using time-domain ptychography, which is especially suitable for the measurement of complex, spectrally broadband ultrashort pulses. The measurements of the ANDi SC pulses reveal intricate pulse shapes, considerable temporal fine structure, and oscillations on time scales of < 25 femtoseconds, which differ from the smoothness and simplicity of temporal profiles obtained in numerical simulations and observed in previous experiments.

The two treatment schemes were compared: 1) scheme A consisting of a treatment in a moving bed biological reactor (MBBR) followed by microfiltration (MF) and nanofiltration (NF), and 2) scheme B comprising MBBR followed by oxidation by photolysis enhanced with in situ generated O (UV/O) after which MF and NF were applied. The removal efficiency in MBBR reached 95-97% for the biochemical oxygen demand; 90-93% for the chemical oxygen demand and 89-99% for an anionic and a nonionic surfactants.

Our previous data showed that the SnRK2-interacting Calcium Sensor (SCS) inhibits SnRK2 activity. Use of alternative transcription start sites located within the Arabidopsis () gene results in two in-frame transcripts and subsequently two proteins, that differ only by the sequence position of the N terminus.

The setup uses the femtosecond fiber laser as a pump and an all-normal dispersion microstructured fiber as a medium for supercontinuum generation. The generated spectrum is characterized both experimentally and numerically and shows a broad bandwidth (1.

We monitored the evolution of the reflection spectra for different values of the angle ϕ by describing the tilt between the phase mask and the fiber. We observed that the peak at is split into five separate peaks for the nonzero tilt and that separation of the peaks increases linearly with ϕ.

In this Letter, we extended a theoretical model of self-organized SHG to include an attenuation and investigated the influence of fiber loss on the self-organized SHG process. We performed calculations of energy conversion efficiency for SHG in microstructured optical fibers.

This research sought to develop laundry wastewater treatment technology which included tests of a two-stage Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR); this had two reactors, was filled with carriers Kaldnes K5 (specific area - 800 m/m) and were realized in aerobic condition. Operating on site, in the laundry, reactors were fed actual wastewater from the laundry retention tank.

Structural studies of this GW182 fragment are challenging due to its predicted intrinsically disordered character, except for its RRM domain.

Our simple fiber design allowed us to explore various nonlinear propagation regimes beyond 2 μm, which involved careful control of four-wave mixing processes. Within the complex, the N terminus of FLASH interacts with the N terminus of the U7 snRNP protein Lsm11, and together they recruit the HCC. FLASH through its distant C terminus independently interacts with the C-terminal SANT/Myb-like domain of nuclear protein, ataxia-telangiectasia locus (NPAT), a transcriptional co-activator required for expression of histone genes in S phase.

The building blocks of keratin IFs are parallel coiled-coil dimers of two distinct sequence-related proteins distinguished as type I and type II keratins. To gain more insight into their structural dynamics, we resorted to hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry of keratins K8 and K18, which are characteristic for simple epithelial cells.

This feature was achieved in a specially designed side-hole fiber by combining linear birefringence induced by a pair of holes located in the cladding and the elliptical core tilted with respect to the symmetry plane of the holes. We performed numerical simulations of this design properties.

A detailed analysis of its functionality is given based on effective medium theory combined with a study of negative refraction in anisotropic metamaterials and finite elements simulations.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe have studied the effect of waveguide alignment on the reflection spectrum of Bragg gratings fabricated using a multiple order phase mask. We have demonstrated that splitting of certain Bragg peaks observed in earlier experiments reported in literature is caused by formation of the gratings with different periodicities in the waveguide tilted with respect to the phase mask plane due to the interference of non-symmetrical diffraction orders. Analytical expressions for spectral separation of the split peaks have been derived and verified against the experimental data recently presented in literature.
