Background: One of the most critical functions of the fetal membranes is to remain intact until the onset of labor to maintain the protective intrauterine fluid environment. In most pregnancies, spontaneous rupture usually occurs near the end of the first stage of labor. Preterm premature membrane rupture (PROM) occurs when the fetal membrane ruptures before 37 weeks of pregnancy, and it contributes to adverse maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomes.

Background: Despite the high burden of malnutrition in the country, there is a lack of a simple and valid tool to screen elders in Ethiopia. The Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) tool has been validated for comprehensive geriatric assessment to identify malnutrition in other countries. However, there is a lack of evidence on the potential validity and reliability of the tool for institutionalized elders in Ethiopia.
