Preventive Effect of Ethyl Pyruvate on Postoperative Adhesion Formation Following Abdominal Surgery.

Objective: Postoperative adhesions are among the major causes of morbidity and mortality following abdominal surgery. As an antioxidant and antiinflamatory agent, the potential effect of ethyl pyruvate on adhesion prevention has not been clearly studied. We aimed to investigate the possible anti-adhesive effect of ethyl pyruvate compared with an effective barrier membrane, Seprafilm, in a rat cecal abrasion model.

An Unusual Location of Neuroendocrine Tumour: Primary Hepatic Origin.

Although neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) of primary hepatic origin are extremely rare, most of NETs present with liver metastasis. When a NET is found in the liver, it must be treated to exclude metastasis from extrahepatic primary sites. The patient was a 38-year-old female.

Prognostic value of NF-κB, CD9, and VEGF in gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

Aim Of The Study: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most frequent mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal system. We aimed to determine whether nuclear transcription factor κB (NF-κB), CD9 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) have prognostic value in patients with GIST.
