Background And Aims: The aim of this retrospective study was to identify and evaluate the clinical characteristics and incidence of recidivation in a series of 40 cases of keratocyst consisting of 31 primary lesions, 7 cases of primary recidivation (17.5%) and 2 cases of secondary recidivation (5%). All the lesions were large sized and were treated using surgery.

One of the main problems of orthognathodontic surgery is to evaluate the effects on soft tissue of bone positioning performed following surgical programming. A method which is of particular interest, easy to perform and reproduce was proposed by Jensen in 1992. It evaluates the correspondence of soft tissues on the basis of surgical programming and allows percentage values of soft tissue movement to be calculated in relation to bone tissue, thus performing a surgical VTO which corresponds as closely as possible to the postoperative result.

The authors reports a case of mandibular keratocystis treated using decompressive therapy and subsequent cystectomy after subtotal reduction of the cystic lacuna. The bone regenerative process was probably aided by the young age of the patient.

The treatment results and the incidence of complications were evaluated retrospectively in a group of 68 patients. They all had mandibular fractures with a tooth in the line of fracture and were treated using miniplates for fixation. The follow up ranged from 1 to 6 years (mean 2.

Brown tumour is one of the forms in which fibrous-cystic osteitis, which represents the terminal stage of the bone remodelling processes during primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism, is manifested. For years brown tumour was regarded as a typical lesion of primary hyperparathyroidism, but cases of brown tumours in patients with hyperparathyroidism secondary to renal failure were increasingly often reported in the literature. From an epidemiological point of view, the frequency of brown tumours in patients with renal insufficiency is extremely variable, as is the bone site affected.

Keratocysts are cysts characterised by the keratinisation of the wall. Keratinisation may be observed in almost all types of cysts found at the level of the maxillary bones. The preferred location is the mandible.

Segmentary surgery of the jaws has increased the possibilities of therapeutic orthognathodontic surgery, allowing osteo-dental segments to be moved three-dimensionally to achieve a satisfactory occlusion. One of the potential limits of this method is the possibility of damaging the dental-periodontal structures bordering with the site of osteotomy. The aim of this study was to report the results of a long-term clinical and radiological survey in a group of patients undergoing segmentary surgery, performed without tooth extraction.
