In this study we report novel silicon nanowire (SiNW) array structures that have near-unity absorption spectrum. The design of the new SiNW arrays is based on radial diversity of nanowires with periodic diamond-like array (DLA) structures. Different array structures are studied with a focus on two array structures: limited and broad diversity DLA structures.

Purpose: To describe the method that seeks to improve the administration of regional anesthesia for vitroretinal surgery avoiding the risk of potential complications associated with other techniques through comparison of safety and efficacy of classic peribulbar anesthesia versus single percutaneous technique using a prospective, randomized clinical trial.

Materials And Methods: One hundred patients were randomized to classic peribulbar and single percutaneous peribulbar technique after informed consent. Pain during administration of anesthesia, during surgery was graded on a visual analogue pain scale and compared for both techniques.

It is shown that highly focused pulses can be shaped by exciting a finite aperture with a spread-out pulse train of X waves. The basis of the proposed scheme is that the peaks of X waves, characterized by different apex angles, travel at different velocities. This property allows one to vary the temporal starting points of the initial excitations of a sequence of X waves so that all their peaks meet at a chosen focusing point.
