Article Synopsis
  • Antibiotic therapy timing is critical in treating sepsis, and this study focused on identifying dosing errors rather than timing.
  • The research evaluated 189 sepsis patients, finding that only 50.8% received the correct antibiotic dose while 30.7% were under-dosed and 25.9% overdosed, with vancomycin showing the highest under-dosing rate.
  • Factors like age, shock, and pre-existing conditions were linked to higher mortality rates, but surprisingly, the dosing errors did not correlate with increased mortality risk.
