Background: Oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OP-SCC) represents a public health problem and human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the risk factors. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NET) are meshes of DNA strands and granule proteins. NET has been identified in diverse cancers, whether associated with viruses or not.

This study aimed to systematically review the available evidence on dental, occlusion, and craniofacial anomalies in individuals with FA and to describe the occurrence of these anomalies in a cohort from two Brazilian referral centers.
Materials And Methods: Electronic searches were conducted across six databases, supplemented by manual searches and gray literature.
The life course approach scrutinizes factors that shape the development of diseases over time. Tooth loss, which is influenced by social, behavioral and biological factors, can occur at various stages of life and tends to become more prevalent in later years. This systematic review examined the influence of socioeconomic, psychosocial, biological and behavioral adversities in life on the likelihood of tooth loss.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOrthodontic tooth movement (OTM) represents a dynamic process in which the alveolar bone undergoes resorption at compression sites and deposition at tension sites, orchestrated by osteoclasts and osteoblasts, respectively. This mechanism serves as a valuable model for studying various aspects of bone adaptation, including root resorption and the cellular response to mechanical force stimuli. The protocol outlined here offers a straightforward approach to investigate OTM, establishing 0.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with FA patients from two Brazilian referral centers. Participants underwent a complete dental, periodontal, and oral mucosa examination, as well as assessment of resting salivary flow.

Objective: To evaluate the association between psoriasis (PSO), psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and periodontitis (PE), and the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) impacts on individuals with psoriatic disease's daily activities compared to the non-psoriatic ones.
Materials & Methods: 296 individuals with psoriatic disease (PSO n = 210, APS n = 86) (cases) and 359 without these diseases (controls) were included. Complete periodontal examinations and collection of variables of interest were performed.
Background: Uremic stomatitis is often unfamiliar to healthcare professionals. This study presents five cases of uremic stomatitis, providing a comprehensive analysis of their demographic distribution, clinicopathological features, and management strategies based on existing literature.
Methods: Data were collected from centers across Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, and Mexico.
Statement Of Problem: Oral mucormycosis is uncommon in pediatric patients with hematolymphoid diseases. Prosthetic rehabilitation is challenging, and protocols are scarce in the literature.
Purpose: The purpose of this clinical report and systematic literature review of case reports and case series was to describe the clinicopathologic aspects of oral mucormycosis and the interim prosthetic rehabilitation of an affected infant.
Treatment of oral vascular anomalies (OVA) has focused on minimally invasive techniques rather than radical surgery. We investigated the efficacy and safety of diode laser using the photocoagulation technique in the management of OVA. Forty-seven subjects with OVA were treated with forced dehydration with induced photocoagulation (FDIP) using diode laser (808 nm/4.

There is growing evidence supporting a link between oral cancer and the microbiome. The microbiome can impact various aspects of cancer, such as pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

The purpose of the present study was to perform a systematic review focusing on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) in Fanconi anemia (FA) individuals. Electronic searches were undertaken in five databases supplemented by manual scrutiny and gray literature. Case reports and/or cases series were included.

This study evaluated the changes in the composition of oral-gut microbiota in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) caused by methotrexate (MTX) and non-surgical periodontal treatment (NSPT). Assessments were performed at baseline (T0), 6 months after MTX treatment (T1), and 45 days after NSPT (T2). The composition of the oral and gut microbiota was assessed by amplifying the V4 region of the 16S gene from subgingival plaques and stools.

Scope: Bovine milk extracellular vesicles (MEVs) have demonstrated therapeutic potential in regulating bone cell activity. However, the outcome of their use on alveolar bone loss has not yet been demonstrated.
Methods And Results: This study evaluates the effect of oral administration of MEVs on ovariectomized (OVX) mice.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare multisystem rheumatic autoimmune disease involving the skin, connective tissue, and internal organs. Individuals with SSc are at increased risk of cancer. We herein contribute by reporting a case of carcinoma in situ affecting the lower lip and labial mucosa of a 56-year-old Brazilian female patient, which apparently represents the first case reported in Latin America.

Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) is widely used in oncology settings, but lack of assessment standardization is the main barrier to optimization of clinical protocols. This study analyzed three PBMT protocols for preventing oral and oropharyngeal mucositis (OM) in patients undergoing chemotherapy (CT) and/or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). This is a preliminary randomized blind clinical trial.

Previous studies have suggested a role of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase gamma (PI3Kγ) in bone remodeling, but the mechanism remains undefined. Here, we explored the contribution of PI3Kγ in the resorption of maxillary bone and dental roots using models of orthodontic tooth movement (OTM), orthodontic-induced inflammatory root resorption, and rapid maxillary expansion (RME). PI3Kγ-deficient mice (PI3Kγ ), mice with loss of PI3Kγ kinase activity (PI3Kγ ) and C57BL/6 mice treated with a PI3Kγ inhibitor (AS605240) and respective controls were used.
