Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are major concerns to the public health. To monitor ADRs and ensure patients' safety, the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) has been established by the Government of India in 2010. The programme is intact with the Public-Private Partnership (3Ps) in pharmacovigilance for quality services, better management of human resources and risk minimization.

Objective: The objective of this work was to systematically review the clinical trials that have used mobile app-based interventions in T2DM patients for improving medication adherence.
The primary care medical practitioners as well as common public must be made aware of the importance and benefits of reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The reporting of ADRs through periodic safety update reports is a regulatory requirement in many countries including India, however, the importance of ADR reporting through spontaneous reporting system cannot be ignored. After the initiation of Programme for International Drug Monitoring, WHO-Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC), Sweden, succeeded in establishing a worldwide pharmacovigilance (PV) network in >150 countries.

The purpose of the PvPI is to collect data on adverse reactions due to medications, analyze it, and use the reference to recommend informed regulatory intervention, besides communicating the risk to health care professionals and the public.
