The Micheli anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) procedure is a combined intra-articular and extra-articular knee stabilization technique that combines lateral augmentation with ACL reconstruction using the iliotibial band as an autograft for both aspects of the technique. Its primary indication is for ACL reconstruction in skeletally immature patients with more than 2 years of growth remaining. Studies have shown it to be effective at restoring knee biomechanics to have minimal risk of complications, including those associated with growth disturbances and a relatively low ACL graft rupture rate.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity and clinical utility of this simplified system as an alternative to the Hefti classification.
Methods: Demographic data and arthroscopic findings were retrospectively collected from medical and surgical records of 144 consecutive knees in children with arthroscopically diagnosed knee OCD.
Background: Ten randomized controlled trials over the last 2 decades support treating low-risk pediatric distal radius fractures with removable immobilization and without physician follow-up. We aimed to determine the proportion of these fractures being treated without physician follow-up and to determine whether different hospital and physician types are treating these injuries differently.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective population-based cohort study using ICES data.
The domestic dog is becoming an increasingly valuable model species in medical genetics, showing particular promise to advance our understanding of cancer and orthopaedic disease. Here we undertake the largest canine genome-wide association study to date, with a panel of over 4,200 dogs genotyped at 180,000 markers, to accelerate mapping efforts. For complex diseases, we identify loci significantly associated with hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, idiopathic epilepsy, lymphoma, mast cell tumour and granulomatous colitis; for morphological traits, we report three novel quantitative trait loci that influence body size and one that influences fur length and shedding.

The pig is also a valuable biomedical model organism for human health. The pig's importance to human health and nutrition is reflected in the decision to sequence its genome (3X).
