Aim: To compare prevalence of oral hygiene status, dental trauma and malocclusion among institutionalized visually impaired (VI) and non-visually impaired (NVI) adolescents in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Methods And Results: A cross sectional study conducted among institutionalized VI and NVI adolescents in Lagos State, Nigeria. One hundred and thirty-two randomly selected VI adolescents aged between 9 and 23 years and 138 NVI participants aged between 9 and 17 years were recruited using a multi-stage random sampling technique.

Background And Aim: Children with cleft lip and palate present with a wide range of dental and occlusal anomalies as a result of the cleft defect. These patients also present with oral habits which may affect their quality of life. Methods And Results: A cross-sectional study of institutionalized sighted and visually impaired 10- to 19-year-old adolescents was carried out using interviewer-administered Oral Health Related Quality of Life questionnaire based on Child Oral Impact on Daily Performance (Child-OIDP) questionnaire. Frequencies of impact and mean impact scores were determined and compared between the two groups using chi-square test.
