The remains of ovarian follicles reported in nine specimens of basal birds represents one of the most remarkable examples of soft-tissue preservation in the Early Cretaceous Jehol Biota. This discovery was immediately contested and the structures alternatively interpreted as ingested seeds. Fragments of the purported follicles preserved in an enantiornithine (STM10-12) were extracted and subjected to multiple high-resolution analyses.

Proteins are synthesized during translation elongation, a synergistic process in which ribosomes decode the genetic information transmitted in mRNA, using tRNA. Numerous human diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases and cancers, are known to be related to abnormal translation elongation.

The present study characterized seven selenoproteins, consisting of the GPX1, GPX3, GPX4, SELENOW, SELENOP, TXNRD2 and TXNRD3 cDNAs in various tissues of yellow catfish, explored their regulation to dietary Se addition.
Methods: 3' and 5' RACE PCR were used to clone full-length cDNA sequences of seven selenoprotein genes (GPX1, GPX3, GPX4, SELENOW, SELENOP, TXNRD2 and TXNRD3).
Dysregulation in hepatic lipid synthesis by excess dietary carbohydrate intake is often relevant with the occurrence of fatty liver; therefore, the thorough understanding of the regulation of lipid deposition and metabolism seems crucial to search for potential regulatory targets. In the present study, we examined TAG accumulation, lipid metabolism-related gene expression, the enzyme activities of lipogenesis-related enzymes, the protein levels of transcription factors or genes involving lipogenesis in the livers of yellow catfish fed five dietary carbohydrate sources, such as glucose, maize starch, sucrose, potato starch and dextrin, respectively. Generally speaking, compared with other carbohydrate sources, dietary glucose promoted TAG accumulation, up-regulated lipogenic enzyme activities and gene expressions, and down-regulated mRNA expression of genes involved in lipolysis and small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) modification pathways.

With China's economic transformation into a consumption-driven model, household CO emissions (HCEs) become an increasingly essential part of China's CO emissions. However, how will the HCEs change in urban and rural areas and what are the driving forces of HCEs through 2040 are not clear. In this paper, we project nation-level HCEs up to 2040 by the scenario analysis, and analyze the drivers of HCEs during 1997-2040 by the decomposition analysis.

However, the efficacy of current therapeutic options remains limited. We aimed to investigate the treatment efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in motor function rehabilitation after ischemic stroke and explore the underlying mechanisms.

Nevertheless, most patients end up with the development of BRAFi resistance, which strongly limits the clinical application of these agents. POU4F1 is a stem cell-associated transcriptional factor that is highly expressed in melanoma cells and contributes to BRAF-activated malignant transformation.

As the largest carbon dioxide (CO) emitter, China exists obvious regional inequality in per capita CO emissions. However, such inequality and its dynamic change for recent years have not been systematically studied. In this paper, we evaluate China's regional inequality in per capita CO emissions during 1997-2016 using the Theil index and decompose it into within-region and between-region components based on eight regions.

The emulsion is subsequently used to prepare tetracycline-imprinted biochar composite microspheres (MIPMs) with tailored sizes and good uniformity. The adsorption properties of tetracycline to the MIPMs were investigated using different adsorption experiments including adsorption kinetic experiment, equilibrium binding experiment, selectivity evaluation and competitive adsorption tests.

Methods: The clinical data of 93 patients with blunt spleen rupture treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from April 2015 to April 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 84 cases were treated conservatively and 9 cases were treated surgically.
We report the use of biochar and FeO nanoparticles as co-stabilizers for oil-in-water (o/w) Pickering emulsion. The emulsion is subsequently used to prepare magnetic tetracycline-imprinted biochar composite microspheres (MMIPMs) with good uniformity and high selectivity. The MMIPMs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunner-Emmet-Teller (BET) measurements, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and thermogravimetry analysis (TGA).

Along with the development of urbanization and informationization, an increasing attention has been attracted to CO emissions of China's transportation sector and its influencing factors. Such researches mainly utilize single indicator or two indicators to represent technology process. This research aims to verify the influence of technology-environmental innovation indicator system on CO emissions of China's transportation sector by decoupling elasticity and econometric model.

To understand the intrinsic influence of a drug on lipid membranes is of critical importance in pharmacological science. Herein, we report fluorescence microscopy analysis of the interaction between the local anesthetic tetracaine (TTC) and planar supported lipid bilayers (SLBs), as model membranes. Our results show that TTC increases lipid chain mobility, destabilizes the SLBs and remarkably induces membrane disruption and solubilization.

It is largely unknown whether the occurrence of COVID-19 in patients with rheumatic immune diseases has some specific manifestations, or makes them more prone to rapidly progress into severe COVID-19. In this case report, we describe the clinical features of 5 rheumatic immune disease patients with the concomitant presence of COVID-19.

Such acquired or induced resistance allows plants to rapidly adapt to their environment. Spraying the bark of mature Norway spruce (Picea abies) trees with the phytohormone methyl jasmonate (MeJA) enhances resistance to tree-killing bark beetles and their associated phytopathogenic fungi.

Given the potential role of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and acetylation in lipid metabolism, the aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of Wnt signaling and acetylation mediating Cu-induced lipogenesis. Grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella, widely distributed freshwater teleost, were used as the model.

Our latest retrospective analysis showed that recombinant human interferon-alpha1b (IFN-alpha1b) led to significantly prolonged survival with mild toxicity in patients with stage IV melanoma. Based on this clinical finding, the current study sought to investigate the influence of IFN-alpha1b on the antitumor immunity of melanoma, with interferon-alpha2b (IFN-alpha2b) used as a control.

Weakly supervised object detection (WSOD) is an interesting yet challenging task in the computer vision community. The core is to discover the image regions that contain the complete object instances under the image-level supervision. Existing works usually solve this problem via a proposal selection strategy, which selects the most discriminative box regions from the weakly labeled training images.
