The plasticity of cancer cells facilitates their ability to adopt heterogeneous differentiation states, posing a significant challenge to therapeutic interventions. Specific gene expression programs, driven in part by super-enhancers (SEs), underlie cancer cell states. Here we successfully inhibit SE-driven transcription in phenotypically distinct metastatic melanoma cells using next-generation synthetic ecteinascidins.

The synthesis of crystalline covalent organic frameworks (COFs) has in principle relied on reversible dynamic chemistry. A general method to synthesize irreversibly bonded COFs is urgently demanded for driving the COF chemistry to a new era. Here we report a universal two-step method for the straightforward synthesis of irreversibly amide-linked COF (AmCOF) membranes by autocatalytic interfacial polymerization (AIP).

However, hybridization-induced midgap states increase photocarrier recombination pathways, creating a paradoxical trade-off. Here, we discovered that efficient photocarrier extraction and a long photocarrier lifetime can be achieved simultaneously in MoS/van der Waals Au contact, minimizing photocarrier loss at the interface.

Studies showed that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) can promote the rooting ability, and auxin pathway in basal stem of cuttings was involved in this process.

With this background, multimodal medical image fusion (MMIF) techniques have emerged to synthesize medical images of different modalities, providing a comprehensive and objective interpretation of the lesion.
Purpose: Although existing MMIF approaches have shown promising results, they often overlook the importance of multiscale feature diversity and attention interaction, which are essential for superior visual outcomes.
Background: Tibetan Plateau is credited as the "Third Pole" after the Arctic and the Antarctic, and lakes there represent a pristine habitat ideal for studying microbial processes under climate change.
Results: Here, we collected 169 samples from 54 lakes including those from the central Tibetan region that was underrepresented previously, grouped them to freshwater, brackish, and saline lakes, and generated a genome atlas of the Tibetan Plateau Lake Microbiome. This genomic atlas comprises 8271 metagenome-assembled genomes featured by having significant phylogenetic and functional novelty.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as emerging pollutants are ubiquitous and disrupt biological processes across water boundaries. Their coexistence with antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in water matrix is associated with the spread of ARGs via conjugative transfer, posing a threat to public health. However, their role in natural transformation-where microorganisms actively take up extracellular ARGs (eARGs)-and the subsequent persistence and expression of ARGs after transformation remains poorly understood.

The micro-morphology, texture, water hold capacity (WHC), chemical forces, linear shear rheological behavior, large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS), oil-released content, and simulated oral friction of the water-filled gel (WP-G), the original MP fabricated emulsion-filled gel (NP-G), the crosslinked MP fabricated emulsion-filled gel (NPG-G), and the ultrasound treated crosslinked MP fabricated emulsion-filled gel (NPGU-G) were determined. Results indicated that emulsion as filler phase significantly improved the rheological and tribological properties of the gel, especially for the ultrasound-assisted MP emulsion-filled gel (NPGU-G) group, the smaller droplet size of emulsion contributed to the density and structural uniformity of the gel.

Objective: To compare the mid- and long-term effectiveness of patellar resurfacing versus non-resurfacing in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: Twenty-six patients who underwent bilateral TKA between March 2013 and September 2015 were selected as the study subjects. One side was randomly chosen for patellar resurfacing (resurfacing group), and the other side was not (control group).
Aims: This study aimed to investigate the causal effects of physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and diet on atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) using multivariate Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis and genetic variants as instrumental variables.
Methods: The study employed multivariate MR analysis with physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and diet as exposures and AF and HF as outcomes. Data were obtained from the UK Biobank (over 500,000 participants) and the FinnGen project (218,792 participants of European ancestry).
Cancer treatments, including cytotoxic therapy, often result in male infertility, necessitating the development of safe and effective strategies to preserve male reproductive potential during chemotherapy. Notably, our study uncovers the potential of repurposing riluzole, an FDA-approved drug for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), in enhancing spermatogenesis. Hence, this research aims to explore the feasibility of utilizing riluzole to alleviate male infertility induced by busulfan (BSF), a commonly used chemotherapy drug.

Here, we report a strategy of "rivet" substitution and "hinge" linkage for the controlled assembly of the hierarchical supramolecular framework. The replacement of two "rivet" ethylene glycol (EG) molecules for triangular prism [Zn] (a small block in 1) with a 1,3-propanediol (PDO) provides space for a "hinge" linkage from adjacent ligands, thus providing a hierarchical (from micro- to mesopores, from the internal cavity to external surface) supramolecular framework (2) based on a coordinative subblock with the record number of zinc ions ([Zn]).

The solubility, structural characteristics, transmission electron microscopy, asymmetric-flow field-flow fractionation, steady shear rheological property and multiple light scattering of MP deamidated by PG (MP-PG) and MP pretreated with ultrasound followed by PG deamidation (MP-U-PG) were determined. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were used to estimate the interaction between PG and MP.

As delayed parenthood becomes more prevalent, understanding age-related testosterone decline and its impact on male fertility has gained importance. However, molecular mechanisms concerning testicular aging remain largely undiscovered. Our study highlights that miR-143-3p, present in aging Sertoli cells (SCs), is loaded into extracellular vesicles (EVs), affecting Leydig cells (LCs) and germ cells, thus disrupting testicular tissue homeostasis and spermatogenesis.

Hydrogels are distinguished by their exceptional ability to absorb and retain large volumes of water within their complex three-dimensional polymer networks, which is advantageous for the development of intraocular lenses (IOLs). Their innate hydrophilicity offers an optimal substrate for the fabrication of IOLs that simulate the natural lens' accommodation, thereby reducing irritation and facilitating healing after surgery. The swelling and water retention characteristics of hydrogels contribute to their notable biocompatibility and versatile mechanical properties.
