During recent decades there have been remarkable advances in biology, in which one of the most important discoveries is RNA interference (RNAi). RNAi is a specific post-transcriptional regulatory pathway that can result in silencing gene functions. Efforts have been done to translate this new discovery into clinical applications for disease treatment.

Degradation of PAHs in the environment is becoming more necessary and urgent. In the current study, strain PL1 with degradation capability of pyrene (PYR) and benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) was isolated from soil and identified as Klebsiella pneumoniae by morphological and physiological characteristics as well as 16S rDNA sequence.

Methods: One hundred and thirty one cases of colorectal adenocarcinoma with invasive micropapillary carcinoma component were evaluated by H&E and immunohistochemical staining. The main pathological features, percentage of IMPC component, lymphovascular invasion, and lymph node metastasis were assessed and compared to 296 cases of conventional colorectal adenocarcinoma.
Objectives: Casein kinase 2 interacting protein 1 (CKIP-1) is a newly discovered intracellular negative regulator of bone formation without affecting bone resorption. In this study, we aimed to identify a cross-species siRNA sequence targeting CKIP-1 to facilitate developing a novel RNAi-based bone anabolic drug for reversing established osteoporosis.
Methods: Eight specifically designed cross-species CKIP-1 siRNA sequences were screened in human, rhesus, rat and mouse osteoblast-like cells in vitro to identify the optimal sequence with the highest knockdown efficiency.
Delivery of drugs and biomolecules into skin has significant advantages. To achieve this, herein, a nanomaterial-strengthened dissolving microneedle patch for transdermal delivery is reported. The patch comprises thousands of microneedles, which are composed of dissolving polymers, nanomaterials, and drug/biomolecules in their interior.

And regarding our previous work on angiogenesis modulated by qi-tonifying and stasis-eliminating therapy following intracerebral hemorrhage, we proposed some questions, which should be taken into account in the further work.

We evaluated the effects of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides LBP) on D-galactose aging model mouse, and explored its possible mechanism. Kunming mice were randomly divided into the control group, the model group, the high-dose LBP group, and the low-dose LBP group. Except the control group, D-galactose was used for modelling.

Phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) has been implicated in inhibiting metastasis of several types of human cancer. However, the effect and potential mechanism of PEITC reversed multi-drug resistance of human gastric cancer is not fully clear.

Hollow mesoporous carbon spheres with controllable diameters were fabricated from core-shell-structured mesoporous silica sphere templates by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). By controlling the thickness of the silica shell, hollow carbon spheres (HCSs) with different diameters can be obtained.

The major obstacles involve the nutritional requirements and culture conditions of the cells. To increase cell density and magnetosome production, it is necessary to elucidate the physiological characteristics of a particular strain during cell growth and develop an appropriate artificial control strategy.

The fate of cyantraniliprole and its metabolite J9Z38 in rice field ecosystem was also studied. The target compounds were extracted using acetonitrile, cleaned up on silicagel or strong anion exchange column, and analyzed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

Background: Excision repair cross complementing 1 gene expression level has potential as a prognostic and predictive marker of the efficacy of chemotherapy in NSCLC. The effect of ERCC1 gene copy number (CN) variation (CNV) on ERCC1 expression and the clinical outcome of patients with NSCLC are not known.
Materials And Methods: Copy number variation of the 19q13.
Angiotensin II (angII) accelerates atherosclerosis, but the mechanisms are not fully understood. The aim of this study was to determine whether TGFβ is required for angII-induced atherosclerosis. Ldlr-null mice fed a normal chow diet were infused with angII or saline for 28 days.

Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups of 24 rats each. ICH was induced in 3 groups by stereotactic injection of collagenase type VII into the right globus pallidus; of these, one group was not further treated, the second group underwent Zusanli (ST36)-acupuncture, and the third group underwent non-acupoint acupuncture.
Background: Previous studies in our laboratory showed that cytochrome P450 CYP6B7 plays a critical role in a Handan fenvalerate resistant strain (HDFR) of Helicoverpa armigera. As an important component of P450 enzyme systems, cytochrome P450 reductase (CPR) plays an essential role in transferring electrons from NADPH to the P450-substrate complex. However, little information about CPR in H.

The present study investigated the function of the miR17-92 cluster in adult neural progenitor cells after experimental stroke. We found that stroke substantially up-regulated miR17-92 cluster expression in neural progenitor cells of the adult mouse.

Methods: miRNA expression was assessed in cervical cancer cell lines, micro-dissected normal cervical epithelium cells and primary cervical carcinoma by TaqMan RT-PCR. Spatial expression of miR-182 in cervical carcinoma and normal cervix was explored by in situ hybridization.
Azulene-containing conjugated polymers with near-infrared absorption up to 1.5 μm and beyond are achieved by treating with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). Density functional theory calculations reveal that the near-infrared absorption arises from a strong intramolecular charge transfer transition on the polymer backbone, and the near-infrared absorption can be tuned by the degree of protonation.

Thus far, no study has established the pathophysiological role for miRNAs identified in human osteoporotic bone specimens. Here we found that elevated miR-214 levels correlated with a lower degree of bone formation in bone specimens from aged patients with fractures.

The chain-scission reaction of linear PB was studied by means of GPC, NMR spectroscopy, and MALDI-TOF-MS. It was confirmed that the molecular weights of degraded products were quasi-quantitatively controlled by Cp(2)ZrHCl loading, irrespective of the starting PB, whereas the microstructure of PB chains was crucial to the scission reaction.
